Re: Geelong Next week
Let’s get over the Suns first which will be hard enough.
Might need to bring in Frawley for this game.

Yep one week at a time but there is nothing like coming up against a team in form at their home ground. Two weeks in a row...

Re: Geelong Next week
was just thinking the same thing during the game.
Their ball movement, and the way they controlled the Tigers, was super scary.
They just proved that on their day, when all their ducks are lined up, they can do serious damage on the scoreboard.
Our guys are gonna have to play like they did vs WCE and Hawks, with a 20% higher skill level and intensity, or we risk getting severely embarrassed

Re: Geelong Next week
For some reason before tonight’s result, I had a good feeling that we were a chance to knock them off but we’re really going to have to pull one out of our arse. Not impossible, but I can’t see it happening.

Re: Geelong Next week
6 day break against 7, probably playing in 25 degree heat tomorrow and they're coming off a bruise free win. Would be a miracle if we beat them.
Makes GC even more of a must win. Reckon we can do the Dogs the week after the Cats, which would still have us 5-5 if we beat the Suns.

The plane trip up and back makes the 6 days more like 5 days.lewdogs wrote: ↑Sat 08 May 2021 12:30am 6 day break against 7, probably playing in 25 degree heat tomorrow and they're coming off a bruise free win. Would be a miracle if we beat them.

Sitting in a plane for a few hours affects circulation, and therefore preparation and recovery.
Don't come at me with the 2 SA games last year, we were much better last yr than we are this year.
We prepared better and played better last year.
I reckon the hub in Noosa made it easier to recover quickly, being so much warmer than Melbourne in winter.
And I grew up in Melbourne and now live in warmer Perth, so I can compare the 2 cities in terms of winter sports

Re: Geelong Next week
We can beat 'em.
TBH, I think the Gold Coast away is a tougher assignment.
Can you believe, i think we can lose or 'just' beat the Suns, and still over run the Cats.
Perhaps we need to beat up on Gold Coast first?
Geelong got their asses whipped in the first half tonight.
After that, the ball bounce their way.
Nevermind the inbiciles on FOX;.
St Kilda would probably lose to Geelong in a fair shoot out 30-35 pts
BUt nothing is 'fair' in life. We will kick their little precious arses all the way back to butt-hole Geelong.

Imagine if they had lost.
We couldn’t beat them on the rebound.

Re: Geelong Next week
Grimes, Cotchin out, Dusty still on vacation, Lynch and Reiwoldt big heads up fumbly arses, Vlastuin seriously underdone, Edwards injured. We are a much different team to Richmond as well. Unfortunately not sure who might kick enough goals for us, don't have another big forward to take Blicavs/Stewart heat off King. Geelong by 5 goals easing down on the line. Remember when we naively embraced the hard draw, well this is reality. My current naive hope is Rowan and Paddy dominate the ruck, Rohan the cat has played his one good game for the month, Cameron starts looking over his shoulder as Dougal crashed him and Selwood really gives the umpires the s***s.

Re: Geelong Next week
One week at a time. But it is very unlikely we'd beat Geelong. One win against them since 2011 (by a few points), and many hidings is the exposed formline.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sat 08 May 2021 2:39am We can beat 'em.

Re: Geelong Next week
Need to play a strong defensive game across all lines, but that doesn't seem to be how Ratt's coaches- it's all out attack, or goodbye..which against Geelong could be ugly.

They made a Grand Final last year, so they were very good last season.
We were inconsistent at times last year too.
Pretty much the same as last season.

Just noticed that thanks. Might make the free kick count a little less one sided...SaintPav wrote: ↑Sat 08 May 2021 12:16amI thought it was at the Dome?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sat 08 May 2021 12:00am Yep one week at a time but there is nothing like coming up against a team in form at their home ground. Re: Geelong Next week
Richmond had Grimes out - about 80% of their backline. Did you notice the number of dropped marks and poor kicks on Richmond's backline? Haven't seen that for about five years.

Re: Geelong Next week
Geelong seemed to completely change their gameplan for the purpose of beating richmond. Not many sides do that. How often do we hear "we're going to play our way"? You've got to be really ON your game to change your game.

This is the same Geelong that choked against Sydney a week ago yeah?
They’ve been almost more inconsistent than us. Anything could happen next week.

Re: Geelong Next week
Yep
But a six day break for us plus we're playing in the prime time game of the week doesn't go well for us .
If we play well i reckon they'll win by 3 to 5 goals
If we play like we did v the suns or like we've played in other marquee games recently , then i expect a 10 to 15 goal loss .
Of course I hope I'm wrong and we turn up they don't and we win by 4+ goals

Re: Geelong Next week
We have to prey geelongs up and down form continues! No idea who goes to Cameron? He was sensational on Friday
Look we must be building some confidence in the playing group and whilst the skills weren’t there today it was a gritty win with some real determination in the last. That has to count for something but I fear they are a level or two above
We must avoid another 10 goal loss at all costs. That will really tell us whether or not we’re any further ahead than 2 weeks ago

Look, the planet has some challenging issues at the moment that cannot be fixed.
Climate Change- the smartest minds on earth cannot work out how to slow it down
COVID- vaccine rollout is helping, but it will be years before the world can even resemble normality
Saints playing Cats- as above, each match is terrifying for long-suffering FQF brigade. The light at the end of the tunnel is actually the light from a high speed train driven by Coach Scott and the ghost of Frank Costa

Re: Geelong Next week
We have beaten them once since the 2010 Qualifying Final at the G that rainy night. I think we drew with them as well. That was in 2016 and 2015 respectively which were both under Richo.
A truly horrific record.
