Re: keeps getting worse
So from the team that played a semi final just over 4 months ago...
Out : Marshall, Geary, Paton, Hannbery (maybe), Jones (maybe), Marsh, Savage
In : Gresham, Higgins, Ryder, Carlisle, Bytel, Long, Webster
No ideal, but we're not exactly scraping the barrel. Not yet anyway.

Re: keeps getting worse
Apart from the broken leg injury to Ben, the others should be available in the short to medium term.
There have been many instances of players being fresher at the pointy end of the season and teams going on to win premierships. I remember the Dogggies in '16 had a shocking run of injuries that year but it all worked in their favour in the end. Same with the Hawks during their 3peat.

The coaches and list management didn’t recruit Frawley, McKernan, Wood, Higgins and these other ready made players by accident. Adding depth strengthens the team; provides competition for spots; and ensures you have cover in case of injuries. I believe the opportunity it provides for a guy like Webster, and perhaps some of our younger blokes like Bytel will help the team in the long run.

Re: keeps getting worse
Still a good team.
Paton a huge loss. He controlled those small forwards so well and is a terrific kick....something that Webster just isn't.
Has Roberton retired or is he still an option?

Re: keeps getting worse
Jones, Hanners, Frawley and Marshall will probably be right you'd think. If not Round 1, then likely Round 2. Crouch will be back Round 2 from suspension.
If not, it gives guys like Bytel, and in the backline, Webster, their chances.

Re: keeps getting worse
Not the worse St Kilda side I've seen. I would select Wood in place of Lonie / Kent simply because our forward line appears vertically challenged.older saint wrote: ↑Thu 18 Feb 2021 2:43pm Paton now out with badly broken leg. doesnt sound good and many a player has never recovered to the same level, although not many I can recall being this young.

Would Connelly be a sneaky chance to debut? Apparently he has excellent disposal and is quick. Perhaps still too light but if he has pace that negates that to some extent.

Re: keeps getting worse
Looks alright to me Joffa, reckon either one or both of Jones and Hannebery will be available for Rd 1. Wouldn't be surprised to see King and Carlisle pinch hit in ruck forward and back.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sun 21 Feb 2021 11:17am ROUND 1

Wouldn't rule out Paul Hunter as 2nd ruckman (for McKernan) in this lineup against GWS which have their own ruck problems with Preuss already ruled out and Mumford a spent force and well covered by Paddy Ryder.
