Pass at draft

Post: # 1884461Post older saint »

Just saw we passed in the rookie draft, my guess is that have a couple delisted/ non picked players which they want to see how they go pre season before adding them to thelist.

I actually wonder if Wood from North is one? Never lived up to potential considering good size, whether not up to it, lazy, or wrong system time will tell

PASS !!!
No selections in the rookie draft at all.
With 2 senior vacancies not taken up the number of rookie place available increased by 2.
But the limit of 6 rookie A and a total limit of 44 players means St Kilda could have taken 3 rookie A and 1 rookie B.
BUT they have chosen to fill none of those places at this time.
That's a big call.
But it also means they can select Victorians on "revealed form"
Form revealed through training with the club or probably more crucially form revealed at under 19 and the new VFL East Coast league.
Then grab the over 18 players as mid season rookies before they face the 2021 draft.

When do we announce Frawley on our list?
I thought it was going to be in the Rookie Draft.

Frawley has already been signed as a delisted free agent. He will be on the senior list.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

12 players reclaimed by their club as rookies.
Gold Coast nicked one from Essendon (Jacob Townsend) before Essendon could save him. Up yours Dildo.

Only 13 new players selected.
Means only 72 new players enter the AFL system.
Total 26 picks
14 passes

St Kilda had picks 14, 29 & 36 but passed without participating.

Still a few possibilities out there in Maher, Callow, Heath and Walsh for a start and three more chances to add to or list

Does this mean we could have as many as three picks in a potential 2021 mid-season draft? That would seem to be a decent strategy. The NAB League is now U19s and there are going to be a lot of unlucky kids who might have otherwise impressed had a 2020 season gone ahead as planned. These kids are now going to be top-agers in the league.

At the very least, I'm a fan of taking a short list into the season with a minimum of list cloggers.

Yeah nah pleasing positive
