Jaiden Stephenson
I think he is the type of forward we should be looking at and is probably gettable.
Not a physical/pressure player but would benefit greatly in the space around King. Good kick, fairly quick in tight leading space, demands close attention and can be very damaging on the rebound.
Thoughts?

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
Yeah...if his head is right, he may have a point to prove, and in a good way. But if he is still loose and wild, it ain’t gonna be a good thing. We don’t need that kind of distraction.
Heaven knows St Kilda and trouble keep in touch on a regular basis.

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
They'd want too high a draft pick for him.
If price is right absolutely.
We currently have Kent, Hind & Lonie playing regularly and Stephenson would easily replace any one of these three in a heart beat.
Imagine a forward line with Stephenson and Butler for pace.

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
In a forward line where pressure is immense, that clever player who skirts around the action and drops into gaps with pace, clean skill and accuracy, can be very handy.
Would compliment Butler and also, would be an improvement on Kent for the lead up and run back forward we lack for mine.
They cant all be He-men.

Other than the hit on Warple, when has Kent ever shown any aggression or hardness?CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 15 Sep 2020 12:45pmIn a forward line where pressure is immense, that clever player who skirts around the action and drops into gaps with pace, clean skill and accuracy, can be very handy.

Opposition know that Stephenson can be dangerous and have to man him up unlike Kent who gets free rein and still can't win the ball more than 8 times a match.

Zero defensive skills/attitude. Loves it when he's given space, but when the going gets tough, he goes into his shell.

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
Don't really need him for the trade cost required to get done. When we slow move the footy and bomb into a 13v12 JS no better than what we already have. When we quick move the footy no better than we already have.
If cheap ( I'd suggest no more than late second and that will not get it done) or the right player swap then sure. We'd first need a medical, prior to his draft there were knocks due to heart condition.
I would pass.

Smashes us every time we play them.
Hard player to beat when given space, but then again we don’t give our forwards space. So he may be wasted on us.

I'm not sure that St Kilda should be bringing in "average" players. He was selected at #6 in 2017 but he's not really set the world on fire, certainly don't rate him ahead of 7 & 8, Hunter Clark and Nick Coffield.
Hate to think what Collingwood would want in exchange.

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
Currently yes, but with only 51 games against 132, Stephenson has him covered in just about every relevant statistic.

He is contracted and out of favour and Collingwood have a DeGoey/salary cap issue.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Tue 15 Sep 2020 3:28pm I'm not sure that St Kilda should be bringing in "average" players. Apples for oranges, he is pretty consistently average, having just played 50 games, he has kicked 74 goals and as a forward only averages 4 less disposals than Clark. I believe there is still a lot unknown about both bit upside on both accounts looks likely.

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
F me! We need mid fielders
I f we don't get the right mix in there a forward line containing Charlie Cameron ,Milne, and Wayne Carey wont make a diff. So how's Stephenson going to?

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
F50 entries and scoring opportunities have not been the biggest issues. Forwards who can directly impact the scoreboard with actual forward craft are.
King will come good in time but he, nor any of the other forwards are being starved for opportunities.
You left out Plugger and Gary Snr, but of course, none of those will be available.
Stephenson wouldn't cost a fortune, leaving opportunities to get good mid.
Unfortunately, I think the biggest issues will be off-loading some of the mids we have who are terrible kicks, unfortunately, they keep getting picked.
Of all our forwards, I'd only keep Membrey, King, Butler and Marshall, and Marshall is actually a mid.

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
We don't need small forwards who are in and out of the team, we already have an overabundance of these. We need midfielders, preferably who can get clearances and have clean disposal.
And we don't need dickheads. OK, the Patracca decision has backfired, but we already have Carlile and that's enough.

You said it yourself,we need mid's who can deliver the ball ie kick it to our forwards advantageCQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 15 Sep 2020 7:39pmF50 entries and scoring opportunities have not been the biggest issues. Forwards who can directly impact the scoreboard with actual forward craft are.

Re: Jaiden Stephenson
Yes, we need that. We also need forwards who can take that advantage. There's some symmetry having 6, 7 & 8, possibly the best 3 of that draft. Out of favour with Collingwood & Collingwood out of cap space. Screw them!sks023 wrote: ↑Tue 15 Sep 2020 9:24pmYou said it yourself,we need mid's who can deliver the ball ie kick it to our forwards advantageCQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 15 Sep 2020 7:39pmF50 entries and scoring opportunities have not been the biggest issues.
