Josh Bruce
Round 1 - 1.0 & 6 disposals
Round 2 - 0.1 & 11 disposals
Round 3 - 0.0 & 6 disposals
2 shots for goal in 3 games of football. Dogs haven't set the scoreboard on fire with scores of 34, 49 & 57. They have averaged 46 points over the last 3 games in absolute perfect conditions.
He's on a 3 year deal on decent coin right?

Re: Josh Bruce
Yep, we were not too far off giving him the same money for 2 yr contract.
He's a compliment...he provides incredible support to a number #1 KPP.
But Dogs dont have one on the forward line and somehow watched Bruce play and thought he was a KPP.

I think you’ll see him improve. It takes 6 months/year to get used to a new system and the players to kick to you.

Re: Josh Bruce
Bruce is a good B grade KPP.
He can take a contested grab and works hard up and down the ground when asked to do so.
He's no gun but he's worth his coin.
I think the Dogs go through Naughton a lot and bypass Bruce.
He'll be fine when he and they settle.
Would have been happy to keep him as a KPP in front of Ryder.
It ended up pretty much a Bruce for Jones deal and I think we need a player with Jones aggression and speed more than we needed Bruce so I'm happy with the trade.

Re: Josh Bruce
I was watching him last night and he never seems to get any leading space at the Dogs with all their mids, flankers and pockets filling holes in front of him. Plus Naughton falls back to FF to lead out, I wonder how long it will be until he starts whinging about being having no space.

He did have one shot last night but couldn't make the distance from 35 metres! It was also way off target.Peanut Farm wrote: ↑Fri 19 Jun 2020 11:04pm Round 1 - 1.0 & 6 disposals

Seems to be strangely common since the return, saw J Riewoldt do a similarly shocking kick on goal last week that didn't make the distanceTrev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jun 2020 10:46amHe did have one shot last night but couldn't make the distance from 35 metres! Which is odd because I remember him being a booming kick who could get the distance from outside of 50 with us at his best.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jun 2020 10:46amHe did have one shot last night but couldn't make the distance from 35 metres! Saw another shot last night from around 50 which landed around 5 short too. Like I said he looks physically a bit out of shape which is understandable.

Re: Josh Bruce
How about we wish Josh all the best and show more concern about the players who dealt up the rubbish we had to watch tonight???

Re: Josh Bruce
Not sure why there's a lot of hating on him in this thread.
Are people that simple to realise we effectively pushed him out by not extending him. Not sure why it translates to bitterness for a player leaving.

Exactly, same as Goddard.
The "Boy from Lorne" on the other hand...
happy to see he has 5 touches to 3 quarter time and Geelong getting pumped

Jack would be the most overweight player in the AFL at the moment. Pretty piss poor performance from him. Don't you just love Eddie Betts though.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jun 2020 10:34pmExactly, same as Goddard.

Re: Josh Bruce
I'm not sure I hate him, actually I don't but he had a year to go on a fat contract that included him missing nearly a whole year. I would have liked him to honour that rather than put his snout in the trough and try to hold us to ransom, leaving us with bugger all.
I think we should have received a 2nd rounder for him, that would have been a win. The Dogs are paying overs in terms of contract value and length.

Re: Josh Bruce
No-one waits until the final year of their contract to 'test the waters' He tested it and found we weren't interested - along comes a big fat contract that may not be there next year - he takes it - so what???Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sun 21 Jun 2020 10:00am

He is a doggie - dislike him because he is a doggie - I just don't see why people wish him a lack of success - I want him to be quiet against us - but he was a good servant for the club - go and kick a bag against the remaining 16 clubs.

Re: Josh Bruce
No - not the same as Goddard. Goddard had a choice and chose coin. Course, he'd learnt directly from the lyin' master there.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jun 2020 10:34pmExactly, same as Goddard.

Re: Josh Bruce
Good on him- 6 goals, some strong grabs. A reminder of what a good player he was for us , and what you can do with polished delivery. I am happy with our forward set up and he did become the type of player clearly good enough to play but perhaps no longer a good fit for 2020 StKilda.

The more coin he gets at the Dogs, the less money they have to compete for our next target player.roskilde wrote: ↑Sun 05 Jul 2020 3:03pmAgreed. I always liked Bruce and thought he gave his all. Re: Josh Bruce
From the heraldsun.com.au
"Josh Bruce has to be better. The big-name free-agent signing in the off-season has trouble with his goal kicking and doesn’t hold on to marks as he should, especially when the pressure is not at its hottest. In games when it is an arm-wrestle, opportunities must be take. Such as a marking opportunity in the first quarter against the Suns. Bruce had eight disposals against the Suns and all were handballs. He also recorded zero marks which was the first time in his 121-games he has never recorded a mark in a match. It’s a tough gig playing key forward in the modern game, with so many defenders in the air and filling space, but Bruce has to get better. He has been involved in 17 offensive one-on-one contests this season, winning just three and he has not out marked his opponent in any of these contests. His opponent last Thursday night was Sam Collins, who had seven disposals and 14 intercepts — the second most intercepts by a player this year. The most? Sydney’s Callum Mills who had 15 against Richmond playing mainly loose behind the ball."

Re: Josh Bruce
He's really struggling. I though he'd be a jet with that midfield in front of him
Go you red, black & white warriors
Re: Josh Bruce
I love Bruce and was sad to see him go.
He always tried his best but not the best set shot at goal .we would’ve been better served having him in defence a great grab and competitive spirit good luck with the dogs my second favourite team.
