Re: Ben Crocker
Why draft him when we can take him as a DFA and give hi just a 1 year contract?
Or as a rookie
Would make no sense to draft him

Re: Ben Crocker
While I agree with you a bit, I think we don't just need midfielders, we need ELITE midfielders. Can we get that at pick 51 or so? Probably not. Get the next need.
If true, and we are after Crocker, our list management obviously see deficiencies in our small forward depth. I didn't think we needed Butler, but that seems to be what they are after.

Re: Ben Crocker
I believe we have to take three players tonight. So couldn’t pick up another DFA without delisting someone.SuperDuper wrote:then why didnt we take him last week as a DFA?jaxons wrote: ↑Thu 28 Nov 2019 7:31pmBecause Adelaide and Carlton are interested as well.SuperDuper wrote: ↑Thu 28 Nov 2019 7:16pm Why draft him when we can take him as a DFA and give hi just a 1 year contract?

I just hope we are considering him because he is the best available at our pick, not because someone else wants him.

Re: Ben Crocker
Nah. We needed a young developing ruckman and that's what we got.
Cocker would have been anchored at Sandy.

Re: Ben Crocker
He met with us 3 times and Ratts really liked him.
Was every chance but no guarantees when it comes to draft.
We knew both Carlton and Adelaide like him too.

Re: Ben Crocker
How could the club upgrade Joyce and include Abbott as a free agent plus 3 picks in the main draft.chook23 wrote: ↑Thu 28 Nov 2019 10:07pmwe only took 2?kosifantutti wrote: ↑Thu 28 Nov 2019 8:35pmI believe we have to take three players tonight. We had 36 after the trade period.
Upgrading Joyce was mandatory unless we sent him through the main draft = 37.
Abbott inclusion as a free agent = 38.
2 picks = 40 maximum on senior list.
The only way to have 3 picks would have been to renege on Abbott.
3 picks was only ever a fairy story from the AFL and media.
But with only one rookie upgrade we had to make at least 2 picks.
(3 picks or rookie upgrades required)

Re: Ben Crocker
Don't understand the point about the numbers Ace - Joyce's upgrade must have counted as one of the 3 selections required at the national draft, even though rookie upgrades don't get mentioned in the press as selections.
