Bumity, bump, bump.
Seems the Poodles have started to cotton-on, and have been trying for a premiership points game or two at the Western Oval.
Gee. We risk getting left behind.
St Kilda and the Junction Oval are way more exciting than Dogscray.

I would have liked Frankston to have worked - let's be honest it was doomed from the moment they moved to Seaford instead of Kars St Reserve (VFA Ground) - but we are going back to Moorabbin and we'll get our VFL side.Playon wrote:Yeah I'd much rather go home than the JO

Re: Saints homeward bound!!
The State Government have committed to a multi-million dollar deal which will see us relocated back to Linton Street, which everyone on Saintsational already knew anyway. We need a reserves side in the VFL to develop our players properly and that is going to be a part of the long term strategy of the club, as we already knew, and that requires a ground we can use regularly.
Frankston could have been okay, but Seaford was always going to be difficult to make work. We really needed to be based at the VFL ground there and to be honest I think the club blew the Frankston move as soon as the off-Broadway Seaford site was mooted.
St. Kilda FC can do the odd event in St. Kilda for PR, but for good or ill we were never seriously going to relocate back there or go to Elsternwick, much as I personally would have liked them to.

Way, way too good to be lost in that Dockedlands thread!
Please read, and seriously consider, the following Saintsationalists...
Nails the essence, the reason to exist!
We aren't vanilla like the other mobs. We support the mighty Saintas because in an ever more same-same football world, our club was/is/remains... unique, totally different to the herd. The Saintas don't do conformity.

Fantastic post, EFC!!!evertonfc wrote:How is it that every football club in Europe has their own stadium (at worst, sharing between two clubs - Olimpico, San Siro) yet we have shoehorn our clubs into stadiums they don't want to be in?
As of the 2015–16 season, there are fourteen teams playing in professional leagues in London. They've pretty much all done clever re-designs to stay modern and relevant.
Crucially, the individual stadiums of each club have helped foster individuality, identity and a sense of community.
I can't believe the clubs aren't striving to put this back on the agenda, at a time when clubs play basically identical styles of football, recruit the same kinds of players from the same pool and copy each other's game plans.
Long-term, with so little distinguishing each club from the next, I wonder if this will be a problem for the AFL going forward.
(Geelong have maintained their own ground...and look at what's happened to them.)

Re: Saints homeward bound!!
And whilst I'm pulling posts from other threads, here's another one that 'gets it'.
EFC encapsulated the 'reason' the 'essence' of our club, and how that's needs/deserves our return home.
'Head' and 'heart' argument all in one.
And here's another argument from the 'head' perspective.
Thanks big D.
Get us home Saintas' BOM.

Re: Saints homeward bound!!
How can it happen?
It can't!
We have a home, it's in Moorabbin and we're on our way.
We associate heavily with the suburb in which we were born, but are unlikely to ever return.
As for playing games at JO - pleeeease?
Explain to me, realistically, how this can ever happen.
I'm not against the romance of the idea, but there's more chance of playing on Mars.
And the Geelong comparisons are totally irrelevant. Have a look at the history of Kardinia Park and how it got to where it is today.
Embrace the real world; embrace Moorabbin!

Dave, the JO is not going to happen but as I said in another thread why hasn't CV taken it over yet? Why does that ground have to be THE ground for Cricket Victoria when they get no crowds anyway? Why can't they play at the Albert Reserve there between St Kilda Road & Queens Parade?
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!
