Re: Trade Period Thread
With Ben King locked away I have no issue giving up our first pick in next years draft if that’s what needs to be done to get the Hill deal over the line. They are saying it’s quite a compromised draft next year. Ideally hold onto our first pick next year and give away our 2nd and 3rd next year with pick 12 this year.
Use 18 to get Howard & Ryder with our last pick this year as steak knives.
Dogs and Cats both think we are desperate for a deal so play them off against each other eg tell the Cats that the Dogs are poised to give up a 2nd for Bruce which would give us Jones from Sydney - which means we don’t need their pick anymore and will hold onto Jack Steven thanks very much. Do the same in reverse to the Dogs. See who blinks first . Get to keep one of Bruce or Steven which is a win for us either way.

ok so send freo 12 , next years 1st rounder and pick 76 this year.st.byron wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 4:26pmdamienc wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 4:17pmst.byron wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 4:12pmYep I thought about that outcome as well, but it's all contingent on the Dogs being willing to part with 13, which up until now, they have been staunchly resisting. Bruce to WB with pick 18 for pick 13 & 32 (makes him equivalent to around pick 24)
Port get pick 13 & 32 and send back Howard , Ryder and pick 29 & 66 ( equivalent points to 14/15)
Freo get pick 12 , next years first round pick and next years third rounder for Hill and next years 3rd round pick
Pick 29 to Sydney for Jones
Butler for 82 ( no value )
we end up with Hill, Jones, Howard, Ryder , Butler, freo pick 3rd round 2020
Retain picks 66, 76
Give up - 12,18,Bruce , Next year round 1 and 3
If Geelong will come to party with pick 36 for Steven and carry some salary great, if not he stays put and send message out Geelong didn't really want him as if they did would have been willing to pay for a 4 time B & F
Pretty sure I am right about this but, as always, happy to be corrected.
My understanding is that if we offer Freo next year's first round pick, that is all we can offer from next year.
We can't then offer second or third year future picks.
I think there is an AFL rule that stops us.
Thanks for the detail mate. I overlooked that and on reflection, if the Dockers aren't willing to take 12 and next year's first they can get stuffed. That is already significantly over. 12 and next year's second maybe.

Re: Trade Period Thread
If Dogs don't want to give up more than 32 for Bruce keep him. Swans did it with O Keefe many year sago and that worked out alright, or see if Melbourne interested as they desperately need a marking forward
Issue then becomes Jones from Sydney so may have to bend on Steven a little.

If we're willing to accept pick 28 for Bruce and Sydney are willing to accept 28 for Jones, there's bugger all in the bigger picture between 28 and 32. If the bottom line of that deal are that we're basically swapping Bruce for Jones then what does it matter whether it's 28 or 32?
Just Sydney being willing to accept 32 for Jones rather than 28 would be the only requirement in removing Adelaide from the equation.
Dogs keep 13 and get Bruce, we keep 12 and 18 and get Jones and Sydney gets 32 instead of 28. Surely if it's only four second round places between a deal or not, this will happen by Wednesday. They're arguing about scraps.

Nup. Hill is not worth two first rounders. Re: Trade Period Thread
f*** the Dogs. Just trade in Howard and Ryder for pick 18 and shut the door. Brucey and Steven can stay at the Saints

Re: Trade Period Thread
It sounds like we’re going to get rogered.
Hence, Saint should offer 18 for Howard and Ryder and next year's second-round selection for Jones.
Then it should shut up shop and tell Freo, Dogs and Cats to f*** off.

Re: Trade Period Thread
Looking at that four way deal again, the Dogs are being pricks.
Essentially they would slide from 13 to 23 and give up 32 and 51 for two players they must be thinking will be their CHF and CHB for the next few years. That's not a bad deal. Crikey other clubs are hard to deal with. Why can't they just do what we want. Simple.

Re: Trade Period Thread
Just guessing, but Ryder coming in might have something to do with it? One of those guys needs to play forward a bit. Also Max King.
The other thing I can think of is just a shifting of age profile.

Re: Trade Period Thread
Thought that was a great deal for the dogs (better for them than Adelaide Saints and Swans) and they are the ones that rejected it....

Yep me too. CHF and CHB for sliding from pick 13 to 23, 32 and 51. Bloody hell what do they want?

Re: Trade Period Thread
Gee whiz.
We've got a lifelong Saints fanatic whose twin brother plays for the Saints and he's just recommitted to the wooden spooner.
We've got Freo making ludicrous demands for Hill while the Bulldogs and the Cats demand two of our top players for peanuts.
Even at the trade table we're treated like dirt.
Looks like we might have to settle for Ryder, Howard and Butler -- if we're lucky.

Re: Trade Period Thread
I'd say they don't want to pay overs for Keath who is a real risky recruit and well they have offered Josh a 4 year deal so they will fold is my guess and pick swap DP13 before the deadline.

Re: Trade Period Thread
Just watched Mitch Cleary and Riley Beveridge on the Trade Desk wrap. Cleary suggesting that Dougal Howard might stay at Port because Orazio Fantasia chose to stay at the Injectors. They don't need to clear space off their books to accommodate Fantasia's salary, so their incentive to trade Howard is reduced.

Make the c***s at other clubs realise they will have to be a bit more reasonable with us.
Still two full days to go.
