Perhaps ask the question first?
Not sure whether or care whether you're arrogant... Although not a trait to spruke about methinks? ... Not sure I'm a sook either. I just don't support blindly... Some do, that's ok?
Exactly what do I sook about...
I know every time I criticise another poor decision/result/outcome by the club... Which is basically tragic in its history of stuff ups
People go crazy, like I've slapped one of their children in the face... I find that interesting?!
Damn, there I was thinking the arrogance had finally been recognised.
Worth noting my contingent last content in that earlier contribtuion - "apols" etc. Didn't need to 'ask the question first', 'cos I covered the possibility late.
Arrogance of the truly and righteously arrogant doesn't require
spruiking......unless the righteousness is doubted - then it's on for young and old.
Sooking can be hard to explain, but I know it when I see it.
And, I'm no fan of fanbois (or goils) - the handle says so. I didn't pick "Other" because I was prone to blind acceptance of the party line. I also never became wrapped up in the idea of Lyon as the coach to beat all others.
About the only time my skepticism was ever under challenge was when I spent a couple of hours talking to Darrell and Margaret Baldock, one night after he'd coached a game. Twas downstairs in the social club, and that was 2 of the most enlightening hours of my life. I'd always held the man in the greatest esteem, but that 2 hours took me well beyond. Extraordinary man, and he's my measuring stick since - and they all fall short in comparison. I don't disregard others using impossible criteria, but Doc was really something else - smart, worldly, confident (but never cocky), empathetic, wise, broad, open, calm, witty - a gem of a man. As for Margaret, well, my cap is forever doffed.
It was endlessly entertaining to watch people piss in Doc's pocket, and how he always tended to engage more with those who didn't try to fill up his pockets. He taught lessons without even trying - forever an island of decency in a sea of grasping wannabees (hello Sam Newman - oh, how you grasped, every time Doc was about. What a pity his essence never rubbed off).
