You have to love those LONG accurate handballs to players in space and in front of the pack, so that the target just had to receive and keep running. Something our midfield lacks. Handballs like that are a real weapon and can burst open games.

Such a contrast from many of our midfielders in the past who often seem to just handball into congestion rather than out of it, and to handball short at that.

He had rushed and wasted many of his disposals in his earlier senior games. Despite the higher Fre pressure he seem to now be at ease and delivering the play that we had read he was capable of.

Go the Gresh.

Both Gresh and Paddy delivered moments of magic in that game based on agile and smart football brains. Both showed that they have that little bit extra, and that potential to be genuine stars. A long way off yet, but yes I am salviating over both now.

Watching the replay. Loving the Gresh. His lateral movement through traffic is something else! Has got some serious talent.

Yes, he moves through traffic very well.... He and Sinclair have not got break away speed... But they don't panic with the ball, because they are balanced and move well laterally. Mitchell, Pendlebury, Dal Santo type players have it ... Hayes also did, Sir arobert Harvey obviously did... It's like a 'step' in rugby
None of those players are that quick in a straight line... But try to tackle them. They are you're playmakers.

Jack Steven, Chris Judd, Ablett, Danger, Martin are your breakaways ... Either 1st or 2nd receivers and run in a s

Whereas Cotchin, Armitage, Watson, Swan, Scott Thompson Kennedy... Type inside power mids

Great mids have a range of different styles of mids

Gresham showed today that he has the capability to be a damaging distributor. Has the smarts and ability to handball where it hurts (caveat based off today only!)

No implying that he will be as good as Mitchell, but that is a trait that Mitchell which more than overcomes his lack of pace.

We can only dream that Freman gets on the park to be fed by Gresham hanballs for Freeman to dash off with.

Good analysis. I feel we are on track to being fairly formidable.

I feel the midfield is still not quite there, though. Really need Acres to come on or Freeman.

Also we're going to need a Fisher replacement before too long. He'll leave a big hole in defence

Just on that handball.

Even watching the replay, the receiver is difficult to spot in the traffic.

Absolutely tip top vision and execution.

The vision is great, the lateral movement is great too, but equally important is the ability to switch automatically to the non-preferred side. I know it was just a handball, but we have very few players comfortable on both sides of the body, certainly not by foot. It's worth seconds and metres to be able to execute on both sides and a lot of our major ball winners are 0/100 on the non preferred.

The first handball to Ross at around 18:30 left in the last quarter was just ridiculous, how he saw Ross in heavy traffic with a Freo player jumping into him is beyond me. Ross didn't have to break stride, Gresham is going to be a star

It was a beautifully timed diagonal run from Savage. But the handball was superb.
