Re: McCartin - The biggest recruiting disaster of all time
All the recruiters had McCartin at 1 or 2 so it's obvious he has some ability. So where is it? He moves OK, but seems slow. He must have dominated the U18s so what are his strengths
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

It is easy to dominate the under 18s when you are that big.magnifisaint wrote:All the recruiters had McCartin at 1 or 2 so it's obvious he has some ability. So where is it? He moves OK, but seems slow. He must have dominated the U18s so what are his strengths
You have to have the hunger and ferocity for the ball at AFL level to succeed.
Last night, he had a prime opportunity for a mark but he was too casual. He should have attacked that ball and marked with rage. But the dogs player behind him had more hunger and spoiled it.

You know it's easier to spoil the ball then take a contested mark right? Especially one where the ball isn't kicked to your advantage and the opposition has numbers around the ball and the teams been smashed all night.
I Get that he didn't have a good night but people to be measured in their criticism here

Anyway, thank god we didn't recruit Wayne Milera or Calum Ah Chee. Both fast and lovely kicks which is entirely against St Kilda club rules.

Remember how long Goddard took to really show his talent? Everyone was writing him off too as I recall.
Ridiculous post.

Was lucky to be 30cm off the ground. Dud! Can't jump, not agile enough, lacks 2nd efforts, worst no. 2 draft pick ever...Con Gorozidis wrote:http://www.afl.com.au/video/2016-04-02/ ... ssive-leapLTN16 wrote:We should have chosen Jacob Weitering

I have a confession to make, I have not read a single post on this thread.
I just noted the tone of the thread and who started it.
Nuff said! Goodnight.

Yes we finished last in the wrong year.LTN16 wrote:We should have chosen Jacob Weitering
Unfortunately in "our" year it was a weak draft at the top.
So yes Mc does not look up to what some No1's but you can only draft players eligible in that draft.
Pesonally like I posted back then I would have gone for Petracca but most judges had Mc in their top 2.
If you are going to finish last it is handy if you can do it in a year when the top end talent is exceptional.
At this stage I would expect us to have Pick 3 or 4 in the next draft.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

Remember it clearly.asaint wrote:Remember how long Goddard took to really show his talent? Everyone was writing him off too as I recall.
Ridiculous post.
For his first 2 seasons he was bagged relentlessly by many.
Joey and Fisher also both took a couple of seasons to cement themselves.
But I think with all the three mentioned above, they did have the odd good game that showed their
potential.
The real gun from the get go was Dal. As a teenager he was able to rack up many high possession games,
and effective ones at that. THAT is what is missing in our kiddies now - only Billings is getting close
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Re: McCartin - The biggest recruiting disaster of all time
McCartin has shown some great signs what are you guys on???
He looked much better than boyd. If mccartin swapped with boyd he wouldve kicked 5.
How about some
Support?? This kid yes KID 19 years old DEVELOPING KEY FORWARD is a gun. He has great composure, graat hands and brilliant kick for goal. Please dont be so silly to look at tiny sample on a dog night (literally)
Loved his chest mark. Showed incredible agility.
He needs work on endurance .... AHHHH SO DID MOST GREAT PLAYERS!!!
He is a gun and very strong person ... He will come good. He will kick bags of 4 this year in the AFL, mark my words.
BUT it may be 2018 before we see him become
The gun you are looking for after seven games.
Seriously get some perspective and learn about football.

Re: McCartin - The biggest recruiting disaster of all time
If he can become a Taylor Walker type forward we've done well & he's worth the pick 1 investment. Early prediction is he's a 50-60 goal forward that will need quite a bit of support to make our forward line dangerous. Nothing wrong with that. Fingers crossed.

I actually like what I've seen of him so far and thought he did ok on Sat night. I have no doubt that he'll get there and will play the kind of footy we love. There's some good old fashioned mongrel in him too.

Is he better than Jack Watts?Myron Gaines wrote:He had an ordinary game. Seriously lacks intensity.
But debating that selection is a waste of time - what is done is done.
More importantly what are we going to do with pick No 1 in the 2016 draft.
