Re: Wangaratta Weather

Re: Wangaratta Weather
The bombers I thought were getting into town yesterday? They could always land at Albury and drive down to Wang would only be a 50 minute drive. Would think that they would have had a contingency plan in place considering the Wang Airport runway is grass :0
Thats Mr. Smartarse to you

Re: Wangaratta Weather
Well they're now predicting 40-80mm of rain in Wang today, which is up from the 20-40 they were predicting about 13 hours ago. Apparently they've already had 14mm, so there may be a major deluge coming: http://www.weatherzone.com.au/vic/northeast/wangaratta
And Essendon are reportedly back in Melb, after not being able land in Wang.
"Hundreds of roads in areas north of Shepparton and Wangaratta have been closed and thousands of sandbags have been deployed around houses as water refuses to abate.
Serious concerns are now held for Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Myrtleford, Bright and Yarrawonga." http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-n ... 6288089771
If I was one of those who went up there for the game I'd be getting the hell out of there now, if the roads aren't closed already. St Kilda prolly ought to be getting back on that bus, unless they want to risk spending a few days there.

Re: Wangaratta Weather
I think we can forget about what the ground looks like if Essendon are hundreds of kilometres away (if those reports are correct), two hours before the game is supposed to start, with nowhere nearby to land their plane and more roads nearby likely to be cut off in the next couple of hours.

Re: Wangaratta Weather
Yes also from BigFooty:
'Essendon weren't able to land their plane and as such they had to head back and land at Tullamarine.
Looking less likely tonight will be going ahead'

Re: Wangaratta Weather
Saints boys are at the ground already. Am in Wang at my in laws and father in law is helping out with parking. He just got back from the ground. There was no word of bombers not being there. Am going to have a couple more beers and venture down. It's wet but not pelting down or anything
Re: Wangaratta Weather
I got people at the ground inside the Saints room havent heard whether game is off - sheesh !
Re: Wangaratta Weather
Im worried about the poster who said we were pathetic for getting a bus up there.

Re: Wangaratta Weather
Finally something on the AFL site:
'BAD WEATHER looks almost certain to see the cancellation of tonight's Essendon and St Kilda NAB Cup game in Wangaratta..........'
Pic of the ground, and it looks waterlogged
Edit that photo could be from Thursday

Re: Wangaratta Weather
Well apparently they made a couple of attempts to land - maybe both planes had to turn back If it's cancelled they will probably share the points.Leo.J wrote:No... Essendon are a no show.MCG-Unit wrote:Finally something on the AFL site:

It's like junior footy, if the bus breaks down and you're a no show bad luck.
