GT again....this time on Milney...

Yes how true. We are allowed to say anything negative we want. Just look here on Sunday if we lose but another supporter who is actually paid to comment should either lie about Milney or say no comment. What a lot of crap.Face wrote:And so it starts.
All too predictable.
If making a negative comment about a player or the club means you "don't love the club", then I would suggest most here "love" St Kilda as much as Collingwood supporters.

Milne hasn't been great in finals or interstate over the years but they correspond to when the whole team wasn't great in finals or interstate.
Small forwards often struggle in finals because they rely on loose ball usually and a bit of space. Milne also struggles early in games when his man is checking closely. This doesn't tend to drop off in finals. I can't think of too many small forwards that consistently score heavily in finals. The odd game stands out but not big bags over several weeks of the finals. Maybe coaches should have a plan where two players shepherd for each other creating space then guys like Milne, Didak, Davis etc. would really take on games.
Where was GTs planning to release Milney?

Well I don't know. Some posters here seem to think RF is actually GT, even though RF has denied it.markp wrote: Pretend laughter and feigned 'amusement' aside, he takes it all quite personally... which, if he is not GT or closely related to GT, is very sad.
But your point seems valid. The frenzied defence, not just in this case, but seemingly of all things GT, is quite curious.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Lance or James??

St Kilda's interstate finals:gringo wrote:Milne hasn't been great in finals or interstate over the years but they correspond to when the whole team wasn't great in finals or interstate.
Brisbane 2004 Lost 80 points
Port Adelaide 2004 Lost 6 points
Adelaide 2005 Won 8 points
They got smashed in Brisbane but were excellent in the Adelaide finals. Milne was poor in all three.
IMO RL has improved the Saints interstate performances significantly from the GT days and I think the knock on Milne interstate remains. And in finals.
But, I agree with those who question the timing of the spray. It's not wrong but it's mean spirited considering what a great achievement 200 games is.

Not true. Milne has also been crap in finals and interstate games when the whole team has done well: the 2005 game against Adelaide to which GT referred is a good example.gringo wrote:Milne hasn't been great in finals or interstate over the years but they correspond to when the whole team wasn't great in finals or interstate.
I'd be interested in knowing how many of his 400 goals were scored at the Dome: I'd suspect well over 300 of them.
Some players are criticised for being only good in the wet, or only good when they aren't tagged. Milne is a player who has consistently only performed well at one particular stadium.
I feel that, in the interstate games he's played so far in 2010, this hasn't been as much the case as it once was. He wasn't among the worst at AAMI and was one of our best against the Eagles at Subi. So perhaps he's begun to turn a corner at long last.

Stick it up GT anyway Milnedog, I think he's a little confused as to who has the self esteem issues, GT has got issues and a some insecurities it would seem.. i know who i'd prefer to still have at the club.

You miss the point plugger. People carping away on here after a game hardly goes out to the mass public. Also how many ppl on here decided NOW was the time, on the eve of his 200th game, to come out and point out all of Milney's deficiencies? There is a way of pointing out someone's faults without running the person down - particularly when celebrating ones achievements. I cannot think of one former coach who would have publicly denigrated a former player on the eve of his 200th. Leigh Matthews who is very straight fwd with his views certainly wouldn't have. Most media types have more class. Sometimes I wonder if this is why the media go running to GT - not b/c of his honesty, but b/c they know they'll get a headline b/c his comments will lack taste.plugger66 wrote:Yes how true. I find it staggering as well that GT would hold this opinion of Milne considering that half those games would have been whilst he was coach. If GT thought he was so crap he shouldn't have kept selecting him. How weak is that? RL had the balls to drop him, and the class to celebrate his achievement. All GT does is provide more fodder for the Milne half wit haters out there.

Resist the urge to be an attention whore, just this once?
I think any footy 'commentator' should be professional and give honest views on all footy topics and players - regardless of whom they are or are about.
It actually disgusts me how the AFL media lack so chronically in integrity in this regard.
curious indeed!
