Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 17 2024
There is something seriously wrong with the leadership, or rather lack of it, with this side. The stats for the last 10 minutes are telling.
Missed tackles, poor goal line defense and lack of numbers around the footy. These have nothing to do with talent or skill.
It has everything to do with application. If they are deliberately tanking they're doing a bang up job.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 17 2024
St Kilda has missed 14 tackles, Sydney has missed 4.
That stat shows tackling is ANOTHER issue the Saints have.
The backline is as ordinary as the rest of the team this week.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Here’s a few moves
Byrnes to Gulden - tag
Windhager to Warner tag
Steele head to head with Heeney
Clarke to HB - just not productive enough as a mid - slow
Campbell should be playing

14 tackles by StKilda considered broken. I guess when you can spin and hold onto it while tackled it’s easy

Clarke is going well ridiculous call.
Byrnes started on Gouldin
Heeney and Steele are head to head

Issue is that tackle where Warner clearly dropped it counts as broken.
Similar with McCartjns.

Thought so too but couldn’t tell from that angle for certain.
Can’t use umpires today as any type of a lame excuse. We dropped off completely in the second half of that quarter.
We were terrible

Clark
11 possessions in a half at 34% efficiency
Yeah, he’s not getting chopped up

Hmmm, not looking good.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Our tackling has been very poor for a while, opp teams know they can walk thru them most of the time.

Curly I asked you politely earlier would you please not spam this thread this week with umpire bashing. OK if they make a glaring error give constructive criticism. However, for the rest of your crap disputing umpiring decisions , just STFU. Can I be any blunter as obviously polite requests mean nothing to you, you midget minded individual. Even disputing a goal review, when it showed daylight between the Saints player’s hand & the ball. - now that’s DUMB, DUMB, DUMB

Nothing to do with a lack of mental toughness or on field leadership…
Mids are treacle slow ….Swans go outside …we gone
14 missed tackles ….where our ferocious skipper ??? (who can’t hit a target it must be said)
Trade bait for mine

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 17 2024
A few players need to lift to get back, at least, to their averages. Hill has the most for us at 13 (only 3 in the second qtr).

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 17 2024
Is it just me, or does Nick Blakey have the weirdest physique ever seen on an AFL footballer? He's got a torso like a cylinder of meat.
He reminds me of one of those inflatable, arm-waving tube guys you see out the front of used car yards.
Not knocking his play. The guy can obviously run and kick. Maybe he's the next paradigm shift in AFL players' body shapes. Maybe he's so quick because of a lack of wind resistance. I wonder what his drag co-efficent is? Any engineers on here?

Thank you Loris but I’ve pointed out some glaring mistakes 3 of which resulted in Sydney goals the other cost us a simple goal to Wood.loris wrote: ↑Sun 07 Jul 2024 5:41pm Curly I asked you politely earlier would you please not spam this thread this week with umpire bashing. Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 17 2024
Webster just perfectly highlighted half our issues right there, missed a simple zero pressure kick.
