I don't remember any games last year where he stamped his authority. He might've taken some saving marks in defence a few times.
Average 1.5 goals per game, accuracy of 51.5%
Side v Hawthorn

At this point Membrey would be less effective than Caminiti.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

He is 29 and folks saying Mihocek is a year older, is crazy talk.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Thu 01 Jun 2023 11:41pmAgainst Carlton last season he did.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 31 May 2023 8:06pmAre we seeing the decline of Membrey?

Membrey is never going to take a game by the scruff of the neck and inspire his team-mates.
To put him on a pedestal is just wrong.
He's well past his use-by date. The spirit is willing, but the flesh...
Hang on, even the spirit is vanished.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

That’s a good post and the core of where we are battlingKilla wrote: ↑Thu 01 Jun 2023 8:48pm All sides need their experienced players - the next generation being the cream on the cake as they develop and push past the experienced brigade
Such is life
You are only ever as good as your last performance
So the question is who of our experienced brigade (so nearing 30 years of age and over) are competition leading performers, leading our younger brigade?
I would put that the reason we have the recent past we have is because of a lack of competition leading performers among our experienced players - and why the loss of Hannebery, Carlisle and Ryder (all recruited from other Clubs to fill the hole) has hurt us as it has
Yes, we added Hill - but he was on his Pat Malone
From there injuries to Clark, Coffield, Billings, Gresham, Paton who have all missed large chunks of football (as high Draft Picks) have hurt
Then you get to McCartin
The responsibility is falling to King, Wanganeen-Milera, Owens, Phillipou, Windhager et al
They should be the cream on the cake
The demographics of our List, hey?
But we are now better positioned than we have been in the recent past (since we were last competitive)
Problem is our leaders can have their days and look tantalising good
Then fall of a cliff
I do really think it’s been easier expectations in a Saibts side the last 10 years….we’ve not prioritised development of a genuine midfield…we just thought guys like Steven or Armitage or Billibgs etc would step in and make it happen…it hasn’t
I don’t think we have much choice but to look at our next vore experienced group - Sinclair, Wilkie, Marshall, Battle , King, Snags, Wood, Clark , Crouch, Steel even Stocker …to take this side by scruff of neck and show the kids the way …we do have some promising kids …we now need more
“Yeah….nah””
