Re: Isaac Keeler
1988 and 1989 he was at his physical peak he wasn’t over weight he was averaging over 7 goals a game in that period for the majority of the time suspensions and injuries destroyed what would have been the greatest years of the greatest player. He would have smashed Bob Pratt’s record in 1989 if he played close to 20 games. 1992 onwards he started putting on weight.B.M wrote: ↑Fri 07 Apr 2023 12:31pm I have never seen an unfit person look fit? Or visa versa
Rowan Marshall is very fit
Tony Lockett was not fit - especially from 88-94 when he put on a lot of weight
He was however the best player in the game (with Ablett!)
He also played about 60% of the time in those years and if he was fit would have booted 140+ in those seasons and ended up with 2000 goals!
Lockett was a superstar who actually could’ve been better - hard to fathom!
I agree he could have achieved even more as you say is hard to fathom.

Re: Isaac Keeler
Core strength is all you need to impact.
18 possessions from an impact player, with 1.6 goals, 3.3 clearances and 3.1 entries at 198cm and 90 kilos. I think we could use a bit of that.

Re: Isaac Keeler
Lockett was at his playing peak for sure in those seasons from 88-94
After his Brownlow in 87
Check out the difference between his body shape after 87
He went from 104-110kg and was clearly Carrying
But he also knew how to use that Bulk
If fit ie/ like Stewie Loewe and well coached/led
He would’ve played well over 300 games and kicked 2000 goals imo

Re: Isaac Keeler
If he turns out better than decent
We will win a flag in 3-4 years
If he’s just ok, then that’s pretty good
If he’s a bust - that’s ok - he was a pick 44 - worth the punt

Re: Isaac Keeler
I don't think so, he hasn't played at all since we drafted him.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

I was praying for Keeler to fall to the Saints in the draft, he is SO gifted and if he applies himself, he could be absolutely anything - I say we don't try to rush the kid, give him the time he needs and I think it will pay huge dividends in due course

Re: Isaac Keeler
I stood behind him at a game recently, he was noticeably taller than Jack Hayes who he was next to. I see in his draft year he was listed at 198cm and Hayes is 197, so he must have shot up a bit recently. He is a really tall young man, doesn't look significantly tanked as yet but I'm sure that will come in time.
If he plays anything like his draft videos we have a ripper on our hands.

Re: Isaac Keeler
Geez he hasn't played a game but he is becoming very intriguing. Based on the hype, I wonder why he got drafted so low.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

He def slid… most phantom drafts had him in the 30s, a few in the 20s.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Sat 15 Apr 2023 3:05pm Geez he hasn't played a game but he is becoming very intriguing. Based on the hype, I wonder why he got drafted so low.
The rationalisation from Adelaide fans, most of which were unhappy… suggested the club perceived him as not having the right work rate to overcome his deficiencies and that his performance looked better than it was because he was bigger than his peers.

Re: Isaac Keeler
Still seems strange they wouldn't have taken him seeing as he was practically free through their NGA.

I understand that Keeler had quit the crow lice's NGA. Probably due the racist comments of their f*** wit full forward last year.

Re: Isaac Keeler
He was held at FF for 4 years of Juniors while in the Crows NGA. And his work tate was questioned, he wanted to be a midfielder.
After he was told Adelaide would go with a father/son pick instead, he was released into the ruck in the SANFL thirds. Showed his stuff and said he'd go anywhere.
You all saw the results and read the average possessions. Didn't look the work rate was too bad, considering the quality of the work.
