Re: Changes v North
Based on what I saw on the weekend, this is what I would do
In Leinert, Byrnes
Out Webster, NWM
Byrnes has earned his crack. It will be short lived because he will be replaced by Clark after bye. Despite the big numbers, Clark just looked like he till needed another run. NWM just needs a few games to work on covering more ground and getting more involved and similarly Webster needs to go back and get his confidence back.
Higgins get,Covid is a blessing. Having had 2 concussions already he should take the extra time and come back next week via Sandy on managed minutes
Butler looked rusty and still a couple of weeks off imho.
I’ve enjoyed watching Long this year but his form has tapered the last couple of weeks Needs a big game this week otherwise in danger of being dropped.
Highmore unlucky , Bytel not far off now, and Mitchito also starting to ask the question of the selection panel.
It’s as heathy as I can remember for competition in the senior side.

PS - Be ware the wounded Kanga - things may very well smell down at the Hoppery - but with the recruitment team resigning this week - there may be changes and players out to prove themselves this weekend

Re: Changes v North
I’ll be happy with a win by any amount. A big win would be even better, but I doubt that percentage will be critical to where we finish this year. We’re going to be playing most of our fellow contenders for the top 4 on the run home (someone correct me if I’m wrong, but haven’t we got the Lions, Carlton, Geelong again, Freo again and the Swans twice?)if we beat enough of them, we’ll make it regardless of our percentage. If we don’t make the top 4, 12 wins will almost certainly get us into the 8, regardless of percentage.

Yes, as Sainter Dad points out, things smell bad at the Hoppery.SunnyErnie wrote: ↑Wed 25 May 2022 11:02amWe will demolish them by over 100 points!!!Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Wed 25 May 2022 8:07am PS - Be ware the wounded Kanga - things may very well smell down at the Hoppery - but with the recruitment team resigning this week - there may be changes and players out to prove themselves this weekend
Ya know the name Shinboners comes from all the old abattoirs around North Melbourne where the players worked…Haymarket and the like. Royal Parade, around the Childrens hospital etc., used to be pigs and animals…
The Vic Market nearby.
Rotten smells at the abbattoirs….
We need to navigate carefully.
I agree with Ernie.

Re: Changes v North
We know we are becoming a good team / club when our expectation is to beat clubs, anytime, anywhere, under any circumstance & the surprise should only come when we don't.
We are a Top 8 side, any club outside of that 8 should be a win, 4 points plus %.

Re: Changes v North
Normally true but we’ve won 2 out of the last 4, and I reckon our team performance in the first three quarters against Adelaide was the worst of the season so far.
We need more grunt in the midfield and more defensive pressure up forward. I think 2-3 changes are warranted.

Re: Changes v North
I like that thinking meher baba, rather than get lost or seduced by the result, examine how we got there. Our first three quarters were poor. We are certainly not at a standard where we can overlook slow starts and poor first halves.meher baba wrote: ↑Thu 26 May 2022 10:32amNormally true but we’ve won 2 out of the last 4, and I reckon our team performance in the first three quarters against Adelaide was the worst of the season so far.

You don't take ANY games for granted.
Treat every opponent with respect.
Even though we're $1.07 and Norf is nearly 10 bucks for the win.
I remember the last game for Kosi, Baker, Blake, and one other Saint.
Freo rested 10 players or something, they were top 4.
We beat those buggers by a fair margin

Re: Changes v North
On Big Footy they are saying that Hunter Clark has COVID. If true, that means another player in the 22 that played Adelaide will retain his spot.
I'm thinking it might be Butler and Owens for NWM and either Long or Sharman.
Of course, we won't find out who is being omitted until tomorrow night.

Long got 3 kicks+1 handball or thereabouts.meher baba wrote: ↑Thu 26 May 2022 6:58pm On Big Footy they are saying that Hunter Clark has COVID. If true, that means another player in the 22 that played Adelaide will retain his spot.

Sharman may stay due to his ability to convert.
Long's numbers may not translate to a score, whereas Sharman has a far greater chance of turning 4 touches into 3-4 goals

Long has points in the ba k
1 average game and he goes?
I’d persist with Long forward - on notice and Sharman
Conditions at Marvel perfect for marking and I think in finals when heat is on our “2 small forward” model Ratts likes goes missing
I like Dees model who play 3 talks with Brown, Fritz and Jackson
Pickett brings the heat and their wingers /mids get back abd help
I don’t subscribe to Butler getting games when he just tackles and can’t hit the scoreboard
“Yeah….nah””

Re: Changes v North
Long applies the pressure and toughness we need in the side.
Have said it before hurts with his tackles has opponents looking over their shoulder and is quick .
Unlike some in our side (not mentioning names) however soft as marshmellows .
BOOM BOOM
