The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Dunstan
It's not just his lack of speed but Luke Dunstan's agonising indecision when he's got to distribute the ball to a team-mate, which has on many occasions, multiple times 2 weeks ago against Geelong, caused him to be called holding the ball or disposed of in a way that causes a turnover.
I say this as a big fan of Dunstan in the past but against Geelong he lost me....expect more from a player in his 8th season.

Yep, that holding the ball decision was a turning point for me. Killed any chance we had of winning and making the finals. He lost me then and there.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Thu 26 Aug 2021 4:56pm It's not just his lack of speed but Luke Dunstan's agonising indecision when he's got to distribute the ball to a team-mate, which has on many occasions, multiple times 2 weeks ago against Geelong, caused him to be called holding the ball or disposed of in a way that causes a turnover.

Re: Dunstan
He might have the same amount of Clangers as Ross
Actually no he doesn’t, just checked
Ross has 3.66 Clangers from 12.5 kicks (29.2%)
Dunstan 4.09 Clangers from 10.1 kicks (40.5%)
And Ross is an average kick, although not as bad as he’s made out to be
They are poor numbers by Dunstan

Re: Dunstan
So Dunstan leaves as a restricted fee agent.
What we get for him in the way of compensation pick will depend on his next club's contract.
Crouch earned Adelaide a mid 2nd round pick.
Dunstan is not as good as Crouch so the best the saints can hope for is a mid 2nd round = roughly pick 30
But more likely mid 3rd round = late 40s.

It is like you never kicked the ball.
So Ross 8.84 versus Dunstan 6.01 (8.84/6.01 = 1.47)
Ross is almost half as good again than Dunstan.

Re: Dunstan
We could probably fit him on the rookie list. He lost me not sure which game but he had a set shot on a slight angle and kept spinning the ball in his hands as he was walking in and missed by a mile. Enough

For years now when Dunstan has a set set within 50 and he lines up and wastes time I always yell “hurry up go back and kick the f***** point”

Boy... not since a young Barry Brooks was brushed off a marking contest against a Port forward in Tassie with an incredibly half-assed attempt to spoil (or not) have I seen so many ppl turn on a player as a result of one contest in one game.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Thu 26 Aug 2021 4:56pm It's not just his lack of speed but Luke Dunstan's agonising indecision when he's got to distribute the ball to a team-mate, which has on many occasions, multiple times 2 weeks ago against Geelong, caused him to be called holding the ball or disposed of in a way that causes a turnover.

I'm not a Dunstan fan but I have to say he has been unfairly treated on this site . He is not elite never was & his disposal is ordinary but the amount of flack he has copped IMO is un Australianskeptic wrote: ↑Sun 03 Oct 2021 8:46pmBoy... not since a young Barry Brooks was brushed off a marking contest against a Port forward in Tassie with an incredibly half-assed attempt to spoil (or not) have I seen so many ppl turn on a player as a result of one contest in one game.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Thu 26 Aug 2021 4:56pm It's not just his lack of speed but Luke Dunstan's agonising indecision when he's got to distribute the ball to a team-mate, which has on many occasions, multiple times 2 weeks ago against Geelong, caused him to be called holding the ball or disposed of in a way that causes a turnover.

Re: Dunstan
He copped scrutiny
Part of being a professional athlete
What I don’t get, the one thing he could control was getting fitter - stripping weight and improving his running - so he could defend on the spread.
I watched him come 4th last in a time trial at Seaford - piss poor for full time athlete who plays midfield
His kicking has always been poor due to a horrendous action, you think he may have tidied that up over 8 years also.
And he is an arrogant prick

Re: Dunstan
You’re joking surely? Who the hell does he think he is? Harvey? Lenny? In the scheme of the AFL he’s a nobody and hasn’t earned the right to be arrogant or whinge to the media about his treatment. Everyone can see his shortcomings a mile off. He’s a poor mans Tom Mitchell or Jobe Watson. Only Dangerfield gets away with spraying the ball everywhere and he has a few weapons in his arsenal to compensate for his poor disposal, Dunstan has a pea shooterbangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 03 Oct 2021 11:00pmI don't think he is , I think he feels burnt by the club & is just expressing his disappointment of how things turned out & IMO that is only humanB.M wrote: ↑Sun 03 Oct 2021 10:42pm He copped scrutiny

Getting multiple BOG's when only playing half a season is pretty good for such a 'limited' player...

And yet the club still doesn't want him. Or other clubs for that matter. His FA value is like his football, extremely limited.
