That sounds like interest from both parties - enough that it would seem to be a done deal.

Re: Chips Frawley
Is Geelong a successful club? In which case then, you'd be wrong. They delisted Lachie Henderson at the end of 2019 and then rookied him when we snapped up Ryan Abbott from under their noses. Henderson played in their GF team and may keep playing now that Taylor has retired.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Thu 12 Nov 2020 2:47pmBecause he is done
If we are going for insurance (a term I hate you don’t see the successful clubs doing it) then at least go for versatility.. Mckernan can play a couple of positions
Frawley on tram tracks plays 1 position
Why not go for Majak or Westhoff if you want cover
Remember too that Ryder was considered 'insurance' in case Marshall went down.
Westhoff is pretty well gone and Majak was starting develop nicely as a KPD before his bridge incident - I suspect his body is still pretty fragile.

Oscar McDonald 24yo is another player who has been mismanaged by Melbourne who I believe has potential. I wonder if the club would consider him over a 32-33 yo Frawley?

Oscar McDonald is horrendous. He's Melbourneé whipping boy - think Raph Clarke but, kind of worse. Same indecision and panic with ball in hand. At least Raph was a good kick.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Tue 17 Nov 2020 10:04pm Oscar McDonald 24yo is another player who has been mismanaged by Melbourne who I believe has potential. Re: Chips Frawley
I'd be surprised if Oscar McDonald doesn't get picked up by another club. He's a big feller, 196 cm, 100kg, played 81 games in 6 seasons, at a club that has been mediocre and not known for developing young recruits.
To me he looks like he's ready to get out of the "Demons Rut" and a club like Hawthorn will turn him into a regular starter in defence, similar to what they did with Chips Frawley, another one who stagnated at the Demons.
At age 25 in 2021 I wouldn't mind at all if St Kilda gave him another chance.

Why are we talking about Oscar McDonald again!? This guy is the worst of the worst, he makes Zac Dawson look like Stephen Silvagni.
Surely, being delisted by Melbourne is a full stop on your AFL career.
If you think McDonald is any good, just ask any Melbourne supporter what they think.

Tom McDonald was definitely worth a look, I thought we may have gone a bit harder for him. That said, he should come cheaper next year as he'd possibly be a RFA. Will all depend on Jake's season, whether Clav gets a go & what happens with any Bing negotiations.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Wed 18 Nov 2020 10:57pmI did the same, was thinking Oscar was Tom McDonald and might have been worth a look.SaintPav wrote: ↑Wed 18 Nov 2020 9:50pmDon’t worry about it.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Wed 18 Nov 2020 9:02pmOK....take it all back...SaintPav wrote: ↑Wed 18 Nov 2020 3:22pmI think you’re getting confused with Tom.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Wed 18 Nov 2020 3:10pmThat’s a funny comment there Mr. BenoBeno88 wrote: ↑Wed 18 Nov 2020 1:07pm Why are we talking about Oscar McDonald again!? Re: Chips Frawley
I'm pretty sure that Tom McDonald's current contract is why he's still at Melbourne. Nobody wanted to take on his (reputed) 800k contract (including us?) He was a great defender who had 1 amazing year up forward. MFC obviously thought he was going to remain a forward and went and grabbed Lever and May as KPD defenders.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 19 Nov 2020 7:37amTom McDonald was definitely worth a look, I thought we may have gone a bit harder for him. Alas, for whatever reasons, McDonald couldn't maintain his stellar form up forward.
Hence him being shopped around by MFC.

Re: Chips Frawley
We do need a big KPB Willkie, and Battle are great but only 191cm and 193 cm what happens when they come up against teams with 2 guys around 200 cm we struggled late in the season when Carlisle was not there roberton is only 194cm so either we play Oscar and now to get some experience ,or we look at delisted players to pick up.
Chips I think is over 30 do we really need a guy of that age who is out of the game to help out i like him but not for only a season and I don't see any value in taking up a list spot when we might get maybe a Oscar Mcdonald delisted and is 196cm has over 70 games and is 23 he is not massive but there is a example of some of the players that may be available.

What use is it to bring in some 3rd grade hack like Oscar McDonald who’d probably last a year or so before being delisted, and who offers very little if he ever gets a game?Saints58 wrote: ↑Thu 19 Nov 2020 6:26pm We do need a big KPB Willkie, and Battle are great but only 191cm and 193 cm what happens when they come up against teams with 2 guys around 200 cm we struggled late in the season when Carlisle was not there roberton is only 194cm so either we play Oscar and now to get some experience ,or we look at delisted players to pick up.

You’re not thinking this through 58...
Frawley is only 30 and was still playing very serviceable football right up to the end of the season just gone.
He’s a big, strong, aggressive footballer with enormous experience, some of which was garnered playing in one of the most successful systems in the history of the game.
He’s close to Ratten, Roughead and Rath, so i would imagine their main interest is to bring him into the club in an on-field coaching role (similar to what they had initially hoped for Roughead) - he’ll basically be a coach who may get called in to play a few games, but he’ll be cheap and his pay packet will fit it nicely with the soft cap for footy dept. spending.
We were pretty close this year, and could have been even closer if we didn’t lose the class and size of Carlisle for the last game - it’s pretty obvious why they waNt someone as a backup in case one of the big guys goes down, and it’s a bloody good call.
Bringing in Frawley and McKernan might just be a master stroke whereas bringing in the likes of McDonald would be a very nothing, very beige, Cho-like decision,
I reckon there’s some sound thinking going in a Moorabbin these days, and the decision to offer Frawley a spot is just another example of it - I for one am hoping that we see him down at Linton Street in the very near future.
Look again it's the Flash!!

Yep is 32. Six months younger than Paddy Ryder. 239 games. Premiership player. Very durable throughout his career. Hasn’t missed much through injury - 239 games out of a possible 260 odd since 2009.
Gotta be worth a spot at low cost as backup and brings all that Hawthorn experience.
We’re getting very Hawthorney.
