Re: Bill Slater...
Well done Saints. I wonder if Molly played a role in getting Billy to Moorabbin? Regardless, Slater is an absolute legend and should be a great asset to St.Kilda, both on and off the field.

I'm pretty much king of the OTKs. Perhaps we should have a thread for those of us who adopt a Sgt Schultz approach to trading/game plans/footy generally?satchmo wrote: ↑Thu 11 Oct 2018 7:28amCowboy is the mother of all ITKsst.byron wrote: ↑Thu 11 Oct 2018 6:42amWellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 11 Oct 2018 3:30amsure you did.

The post was a consequence of a perfect storm of surprise (I had no idea it was in play), pleasure (I think it's a fantastic left field opportunity for the club) and merlot (that sort of speaks for itself).

Great appointment. Shame it’s only 2 days a week. He can take Spud’s spot.

"Slater has been part of former Collingwood captain Nick Maxwell's leadership program at the Melbourne Storm in recent years and will implement his own agenda at the Saints.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Wed 10 Oct 2018 9:28pm "Recently-retired Melbourne Storm superstar Billy Slater will be heavily involved with the Saints’ leadership and development programs through a newly-created role."
so leadership and development - not tackling coach as people have alluded to - and part time.
There is also the potential of Slater including tackling coaching in his part-time capacity, with his time at Moorabbin expected to be around two days a week.
Confirmation of his deal at the Saints is expected to be confirmed by the club in coming days.
The Saints have been open with their need to add more resources to the club's football staff."

Agreed, whether it proves a successful initiative or not, you have to acknowledge the effort to attract an elite athlete from a winning environment to the club.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Thu 11 Oct 2018 11:57am https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/10/11/ ... -st-kilda/
Again, Simon Lethlean is a go getter.
Good work by the saints.
Perhaps we can get Bill to pull on the jumper as a category B recruit? Will get some AFL funding for sure.

Re: Bill Slater...
As a ex Victorian and now proud Queenslander I am absolutely delighted to see Billy Slater throw his considerable skill sets behind the St Kilda wheels. One of the side benefits is that Slater's highly respected profile should bring a lot of die hard NRL supporters to support the Saints both on and off the field, so it is also a big plus for the marketing of our club.
This appointment, together with the recruitment of Hannebery, Ratten and Lade, with more to come, should ensure the team will play with greater cohesion, superior skill levels and unrelenting intensity to progress up the ladder next year......Bring It On!!!

Re: Bill Slater...
No idea what we're paying Billy, but he's already paid for himself.
Close to the lead sport story on Channel Seven Brisbane.
Put it this way the only time you here anything about our club up here is when they're playing either of the two QLD teams, otherwise nil exposure.
A real positive story that half of Qld watched about our club

Re: Bill Slater...
Well this appointment gets BIG TICK from me.
Team ethos
Team workrate
Team first in everything
Leadership
Should all get a lift with Billy at the club.
With an expected improvement in tackling as an extra bonus.
Plus will help with sponsors, gaining members and a number of other offield areas.
And lastly having Billy should help the Saints to get their mojo back. He will have all at the club walking taller.

Slater just on his own and his actual appointment will draw in attention, interest, dollars, sponsors, etc. for the club. Well done to Simon Lethlean.
