Picturing the decor of JimmyGrant's home....something along the lines of the Canberra War museum comes to mind.

Re: Show some flaming ticker
Maybe it’s a player revolt against the coach/admin?st.byron wrote:This is the most disturbing thing of all. Obvious that they were not right, yet no skill set to address it. Speaks exactly to the fact that it’s between the ears where the problem lies. And Tony’s assertion in another thread that last week’s performance “can’t be explained” is equally concerning. So the coaching staff could see there was a big problem before the event, and after it they have no way of explaining it.......so basically they have no idea how to address the issue except for pumping them more on the training track. A road to nowhere.tony74 wrote:A sure sign of the upcoming game is the old adage..” you play as you train”. If anyone had been at training last Thursday, and there were a few, the warning signs unfortunately were evident. Trained super well yesterday, tomorrow at 10:30 will tell. I’ll keep you informed. Maybe a few others might get down there too.
Maybe, as a group, they’ve turned on Richo and the coaching staff and went on the equivalent of a “go slow” on field.
tony, not any of our admin, will ever know of this is the case.
Would be shocking if true, but is a plausible explanation.
The players can then turn it on the next 4 weeks of course but if we are 1-5 after 6 rounds
issues will still be there.

For those who like to bet, Tony said something similar before the Sydney game last year.tony74 wrote:A sure sign of the upcoming game is the old adage..” you play as you train”. Seriously, some of you so called Saints supporters need to show some bloody ticker! One bad loss and everyone is at the club's throat from the CEO, to the coaches, players, recruiters, backroom staff, etc. Then there is talk of folding and relocating and cleaning out the list! Get real!
Its tough following the Saints but roll up your sleeves and show some ticker! I bet if the Saints won this weekend or made the finals in 18 then you would be the first on the flaming bandwagon quick smart. I guarantee it.
The Saints have been through alot worse and came out the other end. Much much worse. Stick fat.
Jesus, thank god I would never have to serve in a trench next to some of you blokes as you would bug out at the first whistle of a bullet going past your neck! Thank god WW3 ain't around the corner!!!
This heraldic battlefield talk should be delivered to the bloody players. They are the ones who haven't shown proper fight. We've been supporting this club all our lives, whilst that pack of mama's boys haven't been at the club long at all, with maybe the exception of Gilbert, Geary and Steven. It's the players who need to HTFU, not the supporters!!!

I really really hope we get pumped by at least 8 goals.
Why?
Because a nice big loss will show Mr Fairy Dust n Rainbows that we're sliding into the cesspool, and the whole club has to face the cold hard truth that they are shite.
I am heartily sick of the members' email post-match, containing nothing but drivel and cliches.

Mao and Kruschev died long ago so I fail to see the relevance of the reference. Were they turncoats themselves, or are you saying we're godless communists who are turncoats as well? You'd better check under your bed. I think there's a red under there! I've got the full set of political labels on this site, from right wing fascist thug to extreme left wing totalitarian. A man for all seasons!
Like the rest of your posts in this thread, it indicates you are stuck in the 70's. I'm sure you mean well, but I imagine you yell out things like, "For goodness sake, kick the bloody thing long!", "pick up your man and stick with him!", " give them a blast Richo!" "Do it for the jumper", "Stick Fat, boys", "Just harden up." Really useful.
As for Kapooka, you can't be serious. I've done harder things on a weekend gym workout . My room mate at the Police Academy, who had come straight out of the army, told me Kapooka was a picnic compared to the academy. Then again you may be right if you're referring to the sexual assaults, mindless bullying and hazing, that are great traditions in the military. You're probably right that most on here would find it disturbing, as any normal person would. Ah nostalgia, how you delude us over time. While your heading back to the 70's, why don't you take that other intellectual giant, commoncold with you? Thanks in advance.

"Is this the right room for an argument?"

"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."

The Police Academy harder than Kapooka? Is this a flaming stitch up! No disrespect to the police but look at the fitness entry requirements.
A police recruit has to do 5.1 on a beep test and 5 pushups to get into and out of the academy. My grandma Doreen from Wheelers Hill could have done that from her flaming grave! Then you compare on a 9 month stint on the streets of Baghdad to the streets of Frankston! Ha!
I don't have a cold either. Maybe the Saints need a 70's or 80's mindset a bit mixed in with 21st century thinking as much as some if it is fairy floss thinking. Same as some so called supporters!!

Re: Show some flaming ticker
Shows how much you know about police fitness standards. When I left the academy in 1982, you had to be able to do 30 push ups and 30 sit-ups in a minute. 12 minutes for the 3km time trial. Those figures you quoted are not only disrespectful to police but a lie. The standards have been dropped for older women, the same as the military, but I can assure you five push ups on exit? Please.
I respect the military, but you're the one who mentioned Kapooka. I just told you of someone who direct experience of both and gave a forthright and fairly scathing assessment of the place. A sheltered workshop, he called it. Look at the appallingly low entry requirements for the average grunt and get back to me. Did you really do 9 months on the streets of Baghdad. If so, well done. I think eighteen years of locking up murderers, rapist and so called gangsters qualifies me to speak. I'll see your 9 months in Baghdad (doing what exactly?) and raise you five years at Homicide. Death all round, relentlessly every day for years. Give me a spell.
I'm not your son, thank goodness. That stupid, patronising turn of phrase says as much about you as the drivel you post. Jump back in the Delorean and head into the past where you belong. And the commoncold refers to your new best friend, the illiterate halfwit, stonecold. I thought you might have been able to work that out, but then again, on reflection, of course you couldn't. You make a fine pair.

Re: Show some flaming ticker
Yellow-bellies, turncoats, LOL. The cold hard truth.....well that’s a fairly subjective concept. Another way of defining the cold hard truth is that people who put their money and passion into the club year in, year out are totally fed up with mediocrity and failure. Totally fed up with spin and marketing that doesn’t have any on-field substance behind it. Totally fed up with crap decision making in choosing personnel and leaving them there when they have clearly f***ed up big time. Hiya Trout. Totally fed up with the average, the mediocre and the relentlessly disappointing whilst other Melbourne clubs get stronger, smarter and have success - Hello Hawthorn, Geelong, Footscray and Richmond.jimmygrant1966 wrote: Proves my flaming point from the start.

Go onto SS, and didn't realise it was this BAD!
I mean, after reading a few posts:
St Kilda FC will be taken over by the AFL within a couple of years, at best relocate to Tassie.
The President, the invisible man, should be out publicly bagging the coaches/players by name.
Finnis & Lethlean, the AFL plants, who need a note on their bathroom mirror to remind them who they supposed to be working for, couldn't give a stuff & need to go back to the AFL, where their heart is.
The administration is totally disorganised, infighting everywhere, needs a total revamp.
Richo is of course hopeless, no game plan, no match day awareness, lost the players, should be cleaning out his cubby hole right now. Same with the rest of the coaching staff, except Playfair, who has only just started - should be given a couple more losses (ie 2 weeks), then he must go - no good.
Elshaug is the worst recruiter in the AFL, and was planted by Essendon to stuff up our picks. Was looking too obvious a plant so it was balanced a bit by the Carlisle trade to ensure he keeps stuffing up. The rest of the recruiting staff may as well go too.
Players - Longer is the worst ruckman in the AFL, especially when half fit, McCartin is the worst No. 1 pick in the history of the sporting world, Sinclair has peaked, ..... etc etc. Phew.
Unbelievable. I am a bit concerned that the Doomsday Huggers have gone a bit hard a bit early, if we lose the next three (well on the cards) what are they going to whinge about?
Second thoughts...... they'll find something.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Drake is a clear winner here against the newbie/interloper,Drake Huggins wrote:Shows how much you know about police fitness standards. When I left the academy in 1982, you had to be able to do 30 push ups and 30 sit-ups in a minute. 12 minutes for the 3km time trial.
You make a fine pair.
the latter 'brought a knife to the gunfight'
Drake was always going to win- as he is highly qualified and the #1 poster in this ere forum

The cheque's in the mail, WS!
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Re: Show some flaming ticker
Isn't that what you did? Detailed your service to your country? Or did you make that bit up? If you were in the theatre of war and survived, I dips me lid. I was merely replying to your rather irrelevant reference to what is your private history. I wasn't showing disrespect to the soldiers. I was telling you what a former soldier with nine years of service told me. Read it again.jimmygrant1966 wrote:Check it out son under the fitness section.Drake Huggins wrote:Shows how much you know about police fitness standards. Same standards as when you leave.
Further chief, I don't need to go detailing my flaming life history on a message board and big noting myself. I'm old school like that! Good work anyway for your service in uniform!
Nice the disrespect you show Kapooka and its soldiers! True patriot.
Damn son! You talk some absolute crap on here! Guarantee you have been told that before.
Tell me where I disrespected soldiers? I was disrespecting the crap you posted, as is my right. I suggest you calm yourself down a bit before posting and give some consideration to what you put out there. Didn't they give you training in the service around that? You're the one that tried to turn it into a pissing contest. Maybe if you were in the military you were used to following orders and thinking what you were told to. Another poster in here labelled it "cerebral step lock". Nice.
It's why I eventually left the coppers. A mental straight jacket as well, although not quite as severe as the military, I'm told. One thing you are right about is that I've been told I post crap on here, which unfortunately I sometimes I do. I don't mind when posters justify their stance with reasoned arguments that support their opinions, and facts. I respect them for having the courage of their own convictions, even though I don't agree with them. Are you there , CQS?
What annoys me is the likes of you and your new BFF, commoncold, who post unsupported opinion as fact, bereft of logic and reason and rarely contribute anything of substance. Lots of bluff and blunder, inappropriate punctuation use, because he lacks the adult words to express himself and a lot of self congratulation. Go and have a beer with him and you can marvel at how wonderful and wise you both are, while the famous Monty Python song plays in the background. It's called, "How sweet to be an idiot!"
PS I did my best work in plain clothes. And please, couldn't you come up with a better example to make your point about relative fitness levels than your dear departed Grandmother? With the best will in the world, the scientist and reductionist in me simply can't imagine a dead person knocking out 5 push-ups and a 5.1 beep test.
