Re: Is roo worth a list spot
I wonder how much opinions will change if Roo comes out and kicks 5 vs Port.

Re: Is roo worth a list spot
If he wants to play on, he plays on imho.
We only give him minimum wage though.
We need dusty get him.
Joey is still good enough too.
Are we just moving on for the sake of it?
Yes both are injured but so is armo, point is they are still in our top 10, so they stay.

Re: Is roo worth a list spot
The question will be answered to some degree this week, with Nick and Joey both out, it's a chance for others to shine and take the opportunity!!!!!
A little look into the future, won't totally answer the puzzle, but may give all a little look!!!!!

We will be great again once Billy is back playing!!!!!

My sentiments exactly. He could be a pinch hitter next year.howlinwolf wrote:I'm picturing this scenario.
2018 and we have Josh kelly and maybe Rockcliff or similar.
We get the team stabilised as in we are playing consistent footy like 2009 and are right in the mix come finals time.
It's a year like this where anyone could come from anywhere in the eight and grab a flag.
If there was one player I could have on the list in a "game managed" role for the year it would be Roo.
Imagine he only played 10-12 games for the year but was fit and firing in all and we called on his services in the last dance !
Even if it didn't work out, let's give him the faintest of hopes.
We're not flushed with success as a club but we can show the AFL world we respect those that have given to the club.
Some might say retire Roo and Monty but are we really that much closer to snaring a flag if we do ?
Paddy isn't busting the door down through no fault of his own. Neither Goddard. Nor Pierce. Battle and Marshall are great prospects but a few years away from really delivering.
Until that is happening why not show due respect and give the club a slim chance at a flag in 2018 ?
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Re: Is roo worth a list spot
Roo is a club legend.
His committment to us means we give him whatever he asks...that is how it goes. He wants to play at 50% (thats generous) like he did against Sydney...he gets to play.
If someone had scraped together some balls and been a coach and told him to go home and sit on the couch for 2 weeks we could of had him ready for a run into the last 5 games. But Roo gets what he wants and what he wanted was to play and help his beloved side to a finals campaign but what he has delivered has been vfl footy.
