Exactly. Essendon have gone on record to Jay Clarke saying that this is what they want. They well know now that even if Billings is not an option, our first pick is AT LEAST a starting point.

We do not need Carlisle and we should make that crystal clear. Clubs have gone on record for far less important issues.

Why wouldn't we take Carlise? Apart form H Goddard, the defence is oldish and not a strong making unit

I'm not saying we shouldn't take Carlisle, but we should not, must not, allow Essendon to turn the tables on us and starting holding the whip in this negotiation just because we want a backman when he is out of there no matter what. I would prefer Carlisle to walk to Carlton than to pay overs for him.

Jay Clarke a shill for the Dopers
If we traded Billings - about our only really skilful midfielder in the younger brigade - it would be the dumbest trade since Fevola to Brisbane.
And it would p#ss off every supporter.
Crazy concept, and a clear case of manipulation via the media by the dodgiest club in the league.

Essendon have a 2:1 w:l record over us for the last 100+ years. As a result they think we are rabble. They think it is their god given entitlement to screw us. We should be very cautious dealing with them. I'd personally rather see Carlisle walk to Carlton for free than for us to pay overs to Essendon. Obviously trading Billings is laughable unless they are sending us their pick 4 along with Carlisle.

Damn. Billings massive bimbers fan wants to live the dream. O well.. Welcome Jake. Goodbye Jack.

Yep its done for sure. The other deal that is also certain to be done is Steven wants out and its looks like we will be getting Hall for him plus we get there 3rd pick. Armo may want to go back to Queensland as well unfortunately. The good news is Ray has signed another deal with the club.
That's not funny, even in jest! That would be a nightmare come to life! Full marks for imagination, though!

Jay Clark is an idiot.

North out of the running for Carlisle

Carlton baulking at the price the Saints have put on his head

Bulldogs out of the running - Beveridge doesn't want him and they cant afford it after 10% of the SC is languishing in the VFL

Saints are the front runners with all the others dropping off

Realistic is 2nd rounder and a mid like Seb Ross, or 2 second rounders

If Essendon play hardball

1) Too bad we don't get him and have an extra 700k in the kick to lure another backman whom there is speculation on

2) No other takers - we can front end a contract and pick him up for nothing in PSD

3) Forget him and Carlton pick him up in PSD

2 and 3 remote chances.

Likely scenario is like when we were paid unders for Cripps.

Remember these facts

Carlisle was a 2nd rounder
He hasn't performed consistently for two years
He is OOC
He has walked from Essendon
He may have a WADA ban hanging over him.

Eseendon can bluster by way of this moron Clark, but they got #17 for a contracted Ryder last year.

They will eventually play ball. They need the dps, and they have no bargaining power.

Our worse case scenario - we don't get Carlisle? So what?

Spot on Bunk. Clarke would be regretting he ever put pen to paper after the backlash he is receiving.

I sort agree but I think he will cost a first rounder and I think we will pay it. Maybe we get their second rounder as well. That will be about pick 26.

Its not about accuracy but the number of clicks.

Don't you ever wonder why Collingwood is linked to every player OOC or looking for a trade?

No. Even Bigfooty at its most rabid and delusional (aka the Essendon Board) didn't go this far.

Jay Clark rumoured to be in trade discussions with The Age.

The Herald Sun reported to be seeking a minimum of a box of Lipton Tea Bags and a chocolate donut.

A Newspaper Talent Scout I spoke to reckons they should do the deal even if donut not included.

Or the Tea Bags for that matter :P

After getting burnt on the Lovett trade, we should never deal with Essendon again. Carlisle will turn out to be a lemon. Avoid.

Meh ..... Seriously who gives rats fat clacker what Jay Clark thinks

Its obviously a wind up ..... Either he has a soft spot for the Dopers or he is willing spokesperson for them

Cant believe some are getting so worked up and serious about it when we know that trade will never ever ever happen

Stupid season indeed

I agree with Bunk's post. I'd like to keep Seb Ross and our first rounder. I think Seb has potential as a specialist clearance player, an area where we are weak. I don't think we should sell the farm for Carlisle. We made a huge song and dance over Delaney two years ago and it seems like that romance has run its course already. Most games are won and loss in the midfield. This is a side/peripheral issue if you ask me. I am happy to have Carlisle - but I dont think he is going to be the difference between us been contenders or not if we dont address our midfield deficiencies.

i'd go along with that. But I don't think the club is that stupid. I've been proven wrong in the past though.

That trade is laughable.

Absolutely laughable.

Essendon. Plain and simple. Carlisle aint worth a first rounder that already has 2 years of development into him. Not even close. Give em a third rounder and Ray.

Trade season...

If you look at Essendon's official Twitter account, the one created by and run by that bunch of criminals,
it says "The Greatest Football Club in the World!"
I am not joking. "They have tickets on themselves" has never been more relevant.

They have 16 premierships, same as Carlton.
Port Adelaide Magpies (SANFL) have about 36, so they should be the "greatest".
Oh sure, but that's a STATE comp.
Funny, the Injectors won all of theirs in a state comp as well, the VFL.

And greatest in the world?
Man U, Real Madrid, Juventas, Arsenal, and a whole lot of other "football" clubs, might argue the point.
Oh, but they play "soccer".
We call it soccer, they call it football around the entire world, and if the Injectors invite the "world" into the equation, they're putting it out there with real "football".
Jus sayin

What does Brown do to help St Kilda though. 5 years for 15 games suggests he is a seconds player.
