An animated plea from Hudson to his Zebras ignited a much more competitive second half, beginning with a five-goal third term.

Winning the contested ball became a priority, and once the ball was one, Sandringham began hitting its targets inside 50.

As a result, the deficit was just seven points at the final change.

The Zebras belief continued to grow, carrying their momentum into the final quarter that produced their best football of the season.

Eight goals were kicked by the visitors and their ability to restrict Richmond to just two behinds for the quarter, along with a bold style of football that showed what they are capable of.

St Kilda Development Coach and Sandringham Coach Paul Hudson was pleased with the strong finish but said there's plenty to work on.

"It was terrific to see us run out the game so well," Hudson told SAINTS.com.au.

"The poor starts have been a concern previously so it's important we get that right, but the second half showed how good of a football side we can be.

"Clint Jones was outstanding on Jaryd Cachia and Tom Hickey was a really important target around the ground also.

"Darren Minchington (17 disposals, 10 tackles, 1 goal) stepped up after half time, along with Cameron Shenton (22 disposals, 6 marks) who went under the radar a little bit."

Sandringham has the bye next weekend, with their next game at Trevor Barker Beach Oval against Port Melbourne on Sunday, August 9.

Thanks all for the updates.
The wind certainly had an impact in the development game!

Think Sandy can go deep into the finals.
That will be a great experience for the young guys on our list.

Development team contended the wind
In horrendous conditions, the winner was going to be the side that took advantage of the wind favouring the Young Street end. With the Zebras kicking with the breeze in the last quarter, Frankston got away early.

Such was the wind’s strength, any kick out of defensive 50 went sideways and back in the hands of a Dolphins player. Frankston kicked the first of the game when James Hammond’s set shot from the pocket went high, allowing the wind to get hold and guide it through for a goal.

The only way Sandringham was going to hit back on the scoreboard was through low, hard kicks into space and hope a player was there to run on. A team-lifting bump from Reyne Harris opened the forward 50 for Ahmed Saad, who took a couple of bounces before handballing over to Lewis Pierce for the Zebra’s first goal of the afternoon.

With Frankston registering six first quarter goals, it was Sandringham’s turn to kick with the breeze. Shots on goal were guaranteed, with the weather making conversion all the more important. The Zebras went inside 50 on 24 occasions, compared to Frankston’s once. However, managing a wayward 4.5 for the term.

Ahmed Saad was dangerous going forward, as Sandringham opted to clear the forward 50 and use the wind to catch Frankston on the break. This proved to be a masterstroke, as the Zebras worked their way back in the contest to be down by five points at half time.

It was all about damage limitation in the third quarter as Frankston failed to put Sandringham away, kicking 3.5 for the quarter.
Seniors
Sandringham has created an expectation amongst themselves and their supporters that when the game is on the line, they find another gear and will their way to victory.

Not only did the Zebras win another final quarter, but put in arguably their most dominant display for the season. Eight goals to Richmond’s two behinds, 19

inside 50s to five and 30 tackles to 14 translated to a 52-point turnaround in over 30 minutes.

The quickness in which the contest turned was outlined by Richmond captain Jaryd Cachia giving away three consecutive 50-metre penalties, taking Clint Jones from defensive 50 to the goal line.

Clint Jones continued his incredible season, finishing with 37 disposals, seven tackles and a goal. Seb Ross was important both inside and out with 27 touches and five tackles, while Darren Minchington had 17 disposals, 10 tackles and a goal.
