I was angry that we lost because we should have won. After I had calmed down though I realized it was the perfect loss (for where we are at right now). We were competitive and no injuries. Earlier in the year I was hoping for 6 wins and a % of around 80. So far so good. My other 2 wishes are that Carlton keep winning so they don't get pick 1, 2, or 3 and that Essendon stay above us. I want the best possible pick come November to be used on an elite goal kicking inside midfielder.

I forgot to mention that 'NO', this loss did not damage our long term prospects at all.

I hope we win every game that we play, and I think we have a massive chance to win our share in the next four weeks. IMO Melbourne will turn the tables against us at the G, much the same as the Bulldogs did against us Saturday night but I also think we will turn the tables on Essendon Sunday and beat them. GWS in Sydney is a 50/50 prospect, but we're a real chance. Looking at the fixture for us and our fellow cellar dwellers, I can see that by the way Carlton have started playing under Barker, and Melbourne's mini resurgence, both of those sides will finish above us. No doubt. Essendon is the interesting one. They could actually end up finishing below us, as their fixture isn't easy either, just like ours isn't in the final six rounds. This week is important for our club. It must be 'No Surrender' on Sunday, and no matter what comes at us, we must finish with more goals and behinds than them. Same as the Bullies and the Dees need to get us back, we need to get the Dons and, hopefully, the Giants back.
I think we will finish bottom three FWIW, but then I also though we would only win 2 games and finish last at the beginning of the year. If we can avoid the wooden spoon, win 6 games this year, and have a percentage at the end of the season of 80% that is a massive tick for the club in 2015. I can live with that. To get that percentage though, we will have to win one of our games by a massive margin.

Wouldn't it be better if in this rebuilding phase we had already overtaken a side that is also building? I think we have caught up more than we thought already.

Personally I would much prefer to add a top 5 pick to a team that is capable of winning 6 or 7 games than to add a No 1 draft pick to a side that couldn't beat teams like Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. If we finish on the bottom of the ladder, which could still happen, it will be because we are a very ordinary side, and a higher draft pick won't make me feel better about that.

If by some miracle our side clicks in the second half of the year, we get on a run and start beating good sides. Then we miss out on the eight by percentage even though we are playing better than other sides in the eight then this loss will definitely hurt. Extremely unlikely to happen, but as long as we are mathematically capable of making it, I will be hoping we win every game.
