Re: Round 8 Team
Come on man
Lack of competitive effort collectively led to the loss
Not a few ins or outs
Certainly not an average 20 game Ruckman and an 18 yo
Armo is not Sam Mitchell
We still had 10 players with lots of experience... Many of whom were non competitive
We had 10 other senior listed AFL full time footballers.... Draft able talent.... Many were non competitive
No excuse for that crap...

i guess you cant have tezza and schneider in the same side.
I like the other selections though. Siposs can be third banana and gets an opportunity against an average team. shenton adds an extra running link down back (which we lack because gwilt, dempster and delaney cant really run at all and gilbo fisher and roberton are all out) and Bruce just needs to play games of senior footy full stop.

Re: Round 8 Team
Considering last week's disaster, I am happy with these changes - others now get their opportunity.

Re: Round 8 Team
No footy this weekend for Terry. Makes it hard for him to get a gig next week. Hope he keeps working hard at Sandy. Will get a chance at some stage.

Re: Round 8 Team
Good selections except I would love to have seen Milera in the team.
I feel we should have had a player of his skills in the team all year.

Agree with the above comment, certain players seem to have been given more leeway...savage and Maister come to mind whilst Ross, simpkin and "the do" copped the axe quickly...frustrating but I guess we all have players we like and those we don't rate and if that's not in line with the coaching panel, it's easy to think why!!!

Actually speaking of "The Do", he should probably get a proper hair cut, he looks like a goofy cartoon character, not becoming of a footballer IMO.Saint wagga wrote:Agree with the above comment, certain players seem to have been given more leeway...savage and Maister come to mind whilst Ross, simpkin and "the do" copped the axe quickly...frustrating but I guess we all have players we like and those we don't rate and if that's not in line with the coaching panel, it's easy to think why!!!

Re: Round 8 Team
Saunders had a good start to the season but has dropped off last two weeks.

Yeh right let's worry about haircuts rather than work rate and skill.
As long as we look like we fit we should be right.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Round 8 Team
Wondering if they gave Maister and Savage a chance to prove themselves at the beginning of the year, Maisters didnt stack up and has possibly been stamped " not to be played again barring injury to Roo"Saint wagga wrote:Agree with the above comment, certain players seem to have been given more leeway...savage and Maister come to mind whilst Ross, simpkin and "the do" copped the axe quickly...frustrating but I guess we all have players we like and those we don't rate and if that's not in line with the coaching panel, it's easy to think why!!!
Savage told at season start " here's your chance son - show us you can play in the seniors consistently" I expect he may spend a fair amount of time in the twos like he did at Hawthorn. Didn't really take up the opportunity , now needs to spend a fair amount of time trying to build his game , into the line- breaker he is touted to be.
Fanciful thinking maybe, but I would expect both to be in the seconds for quite some time, whilst the younger players get more opportunity.

Re: Round 8 Team
You sense he'd be a damaging player in a good side. Has all the skills and vision. Knows where the goals are, dragit wrote:Disappointed for Milera… Been in our best few every week at Sandy.
Late change in by any chance?
What may be going against him is that he seems to be a specialist hff and the trend is towards players who can go through the mdfield.
He's not that physically strong, either, more the mercurial type. That's just how he plays and I doubt whether he can ... or even shouod ... try to change it.
I like him, though, and hope he does get another crack at it.

I too have been disappointed that Milera has not been given another crack this year.
The Blues in particular are the type of team that he is likely to be very damaging against.

Re: Round 8 Team
Milera is too soft and doesn't run the "other" way. I'm not sure whether he's fixed that part of his game at Sandy.

Re: Round 8 Team
Against a Carlton team that has a knock on it for not working hard enough, I think not playing Milera will prove to be a baaaaad mistake. Especially considering he's done well against them before...
All in all, I don't know if we've picked the right team for this opposition.
It's a good move to bring in the extra back in Bruce, Henderson in the past has been a problem for us but with Geary and Wright out, I worry about manning up on their small forwards. Big game for Curren, maybe Acres or Weller too. Geary and Wright are really big outs.
I feel like Carlton will focus too heavily on stopping Roo and Stanley and hence there is an opportunity in this game for our faster forwards to tear them up. In that sense no Milera is a bad move and Savage may have actually been well suited to the game. Would be nice to Eli in as well.
The onus really is on Schenider to perform
