B: Geary- Stanley- Roberton
HB: Simpkin- Gilbert- Fisher
C: Wright- Ross- Montagna
HF: Lee- Roo- TDL
F: Kosi- Maister- Siposs
R: McEvoy- Armo- Steven
I: Hickey, Jones, Ray
S: Hayes
Emerg: NDS, Milne, Milera
A deliberately bigger forward line, and Wright on the wing for more dash, Ross needs a full game.

I'm with you Lloyd… but…lloyd21 wrote:For goodness sake sick of people calling for Kosi like he is a messiah , he can't get a kick in the VFL. Unless Lee /Hickey /Mc Evoy are injured forget it.
Milne been a fantastic servant of the Club , but time to get Dal Santo to go forward and kick some goals and tackle and keep the ball in forward line.
Time to get games into Ross /Ledger in midfield to see if they cut it in the big time.
You get the feeling they have rested Kosi from the VFL for a reason. If he does play instead of Hickey I will be mad… might as well wheel out Frankie Peckett to replace Wright too.

We need to pick a team that can:
A) get the ball (mids)
B) Kick the ball (hit a target)
C) Make good decisions. (footy smarts)

Re: Changes for next week?
really i think some people need to re look at their expectations of our team this year ... we are a long way off from where Essendon are at the moment (hence why they threw $$ at BJ to jolt them into top four contention and why we let them have BJ for the draft picks )
get used to these type of losses they are going to be common place for the next year or two while we rebuild , some guys are going to flop some gameplans are going to be torn apart we will look poor in games we will get some almighty floggings (possibly starting next week) but we are building .. no need for wholesale changes as yet the team got the result i think deep down most of us were expecting

We have to many poor kicks in the team, I would look at Murdoch and Webster for kicking skills.Munga wrote:Alan Jeans 101SaintWodonga wrote:We need to pick a team that can:

Re: Changes for next week?
Good points Trav, though I think we need some changes for structure rather than for punitive reasons. Beau looked way out of his depth in the ruck and is now unfortunately injured, but we need at least 2 tall forwards to come in this week, one that can ruck.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:really i think some people need to re look at their expectations of our team this year ... we are a long way off from where Essendon are at the moment (hence why they threw $$ at BJ to jolt them into top four contention and why we let them have BJ for the draft picks )

You think Lee is going to crash packs at full forward? I didn't have Kosi coming in but with Maister out he's a certainty.lloyd21 wrote:For goodness sake sick of people calling for Kosi like he is a messiah , he can't get a kick in the VFL. Unless Lee /Hickey /Mc Evoy are injured forget it.

Re: Changes for next week?
look ill be honest with you we have some players in our team who are our stop gaps while we rebuild ... to me there is a big link to where are team is now and where we were in 1999 :dragit wrote:Good points Trav, though I think we need some changes for structure rather than for punitive reasons. - we have the aging stars who in their prime were awesome and would beat just about anyone that were still having an impact but it was not as big and they were getting beaten more often (99 its was Loewe Harves Burke Peckett now its Roo Lenny Dal Fisher and Milney)
- we have a bunch of young players with some promise but not really busting onto the scene (99 we had Lenny Hudghton Hall Baker Now its Ross Ledger Wright White Newnes Simpkin..)
- we have a bunch of stop gap players who are not stars but fill holes and serve as fill ins for the kids we havent drafted as yet
(99 we had Brown Cook Mitchell Sierakowski Sziller Heatley Now we have Beau TDL Milera CJ Farren Blake Roberton)
- at the end of 1999 we went out to get some quallity trades done but ultimatly delivered us some epic duds we also brough in the bloke we would build our club around in that draft ( in 2000 it was Delaney Monkhorst and drafting of Roo hopefully we avoid the dud trades and draft our star)
we all know 99 was a terrible year for us but this year with the likes of GC GWS Melbourne and WB being further behind i dont think we will hit the basement like we did in 99 or 2000 or 2001 but i do expect us to look at in the 2014 2015 and to an extent 2016 drafts to try and build the core group again how well we go at building that list is still to be seen .

Going by that it would be 2017/18 until we can think about getting back in to the 8.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
Re: Changes for next week?
I'd say 1998 was like our 2011 season. We rebounded 5 seasons later in 2004....Rebounding in 2016 seems about right but with the introduction of free agency teams can rebound quicker...They can also bottom out quicker as well. Agree with Trav though. Good analysis.Richter wrote:A very cogent analysis Trav.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:... we have the aging stars who in their prime were awesome and would beat just about anyone that were still having an impact but it was not as big and they were getting beaten more often (99 its was Loewe Harves Burke Peckett now its Roo Lenny Dal Fisher and Milney)

Re: Changes for next week?
Firstly there is no way that more than one player who played at Sandy this week will play on Thursady as they only had a 4 day break so you can forget a guy who is going to play his first game off a 4 day break. Hickey is the only one who did play who is a chance because they mainly played him forward. A mid like Ledger is no hope. I see the changes as being Kosi, Lee and Siposs or Lee, Siposs and Hickey. If Kosi plays he is very very lucky bur Maister gives him a chance. He wont grab it because his days are done.

Murdoch, Dunnel and Saunders were 'rested' for the entire last quarter....That may mean something...?plugger66 wrote:Firstly there is no way that more than one player who played at Sandy this week will play on Thursady as they only had a 4 day break so you can forget a guy who is going to play his first game off a 4 day break. I reckon Dunnell hurt himself. And Murdoch and Saunders dont deserve a game yet.

Re: Changes for next week?
the thing is it could be longer or it could be shorter , it all depends on how we draft how we develop players and what trades we make ... but the calls that we have to cut all the stop gap players based on us getting beaten by honestly a better team isnt going to fast track anything .. what the club need to do in this period is connect with its supporters and grow its loyalty otherwise we will find ourselves in a dark place . i think we are doing that by claiming NZ as ours but im hopeful that its not a case of all the eggs in one basket the club need to push the NZ thing like they have been doing but they gotta be mindful to not forget the other supporters around australia ....Richter wrote:A very cogent analysis Trav.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:... we have the aging stars who in their prime were awesome and would beat just about anyone that were still having an impact but it was not as big and they were getting beaten more often (99 its was Loewe Harves Burke Peckett now its Roo Lenny Dal Fisher and Milney)

me personally im going to enjoy every win we have , im going to cheer the team every week and while ill be upset when we lose im going to be honest about the expectation of the team .. for instance with my footy tipping i cant see me tipping us for the next couple of weeks as i think we are heading for a few weeks of real pain

Growing suspicion that Milne may be suspended.
Out Beau (inj) Milne (susp)
Might save Tezza getting the chop.
