The umps put in a dismal performance tonight. Bad decisions going against both teams.

Did anyone notice they seemed to tone it down in the last? It was almost as though they put their whistles where they belong.

But that free kick awarded to J. Riewoldt was just a howler. If he's not the umpy's drinking buddy tonight...

I don't know whether it's supporter bias, or if the umpires were rather poor tonight. I just felt Richmond got a lot of free kicks infront of goal, some fair, but the majority not so much. That's footy....

The funny thing is, the St.Kilda one (Armo) was there and the Richmond supporters were cracking the s***s.

Lennys bump (graze) of the shoulder, whilst late, was overplayed and faked. Still Lenny came in late, so fine, whatever.
Holding the ball in the square within the first minute or two of the game was crap.

Jack's apparently high contact in a marking contest in the forward line = RUBBISH
Monty's holding the ball in the last quarter when Jack had it = RUBBISH, That was soul destroying at its biggest BS ever.

Chaplin pushes Roo's head into the ground after holding the ball, head first = NOTHING.... Retaliates = Fifty = FML

There were others around the ground that we're rubbish too, I'll get the replay during the week and make a highlight reel.

Its not just the amount of frees paid, but it was what they were paid FOR and WHERE they were paid on the ground.

That Jack goal from free in the last quarter was a genuine momentum changer. We were coming and then the ump effectivelly changed the outcome of the game with a very poor decision.

The performance of umpires is simply glossed over as commentators go out of their way to find something, anything technical to justify bad decision after bad decision. Are we really that insecure and unprofessional??????????????????????

It is happening a bit to us - last week the Ablett/Gilbert holds (both had each other) nearly had my head exploding..........tonight was 10 times as bad.

I can cop the odd howler as we are all human but these pathetic umpiring displays are really influencing results way to much. 9 frees to 1 in fwd 50 and 6 goals to 1???

You cant beat the 19th man and it is ruining the game when you suspect you are not watchinh an even contest

All that is **easily** the difference in tonights game

People underestimate, IMO, free kick effects on games. Usually 50-50's balance out at the end of a game.

watching tonight i was just shocked at the umps and how they read the game... i couldn't get it... as if they wanted the tigers to win.... and a few came at real hot spots in the match. The AFL has to really work on this, or sorry to say it's going to ruin the game and drive people away from it. I like to see a fair contest if we lose we lose but i want it to be at own hards not the maggots in green.

The umpiring was a joke. Not only did Richmond get more frees , they got so many in the forward half. Most of ours were in the back hf. Disgraceful. Demetriou has to get this hack team a few wins to get its supporters through the gates.

Geelong overcame the umpires last week so really good teams can get over the determination of umpires. We should employ women as umpires as they seem more even tempered and lass prone to peacock like displays of egotism. Less likely to be on the take too. I honestly believe the seem less incompetent these days but more biased toward one team. Adelaide where screwed last week too. Why is it so obviously tilted one way?

Seems to be a total lack of consistancy - the umps make howlers and once I am calm I say OK now you have to pay that all night - but they don't

Gilberst holding the ball was not paid the other way about 4 times a couple against Vickery - one time king actually gets a free -- I think Gilbert is on the wrong side of the umps anyway

But a run of poor decisions cost games - especially when they give them consecutively down the ground until it ends up in a scoring shot

Not Sure if we need a colour physcologist to assess our uniform or whether our crowd doesn't yell loud enough or our guys are just not well liked amongst the umps or what but it seems ( and I am undoubtadly somewhat biased ) that we get a hard time - and the frees that we get to even the ledger seem to be not in game changing situations
