Re: St Thomo
It will be interesting to see who else suddenly resigns from high positions in Australian sport..probably wheeling out the good old "family reasons" as an excuse. Just as politician Thompson gets arrested, and suddenly Roxon and Evans retire...anyway there's a lot of rottenness out there. I don't think the sinking sport ship will ever sink, as there will be so many rats jumping off, that it will stay afloat. Good old CEO Andrew D. did a lot of chest-beating yesterday, but when they follow up with actual action rather than chronic talk, then I'll know they are serious.

Great post!Reggie wrote:The bigger AFL clubs love to... view themselves as untouchable by either the AFL, AFLPA, Media etc thereby indulge themselves in salary cap rorting under the guise of third party play payments, sport science departments and possibly other questionable practices that push the envelope so to speak, all with the expectation that the AFL will do didly squat about it
From a St Kilda perspective I think we should be OK... we don’t have the budget nor feel safe enough that the AFL would protect us if caught indulging in these types of activities. If it were us and not Essendon our AFL licence would already have been revoked and an example been set.
If there is systemic cheating on a club level shown an severe example must be set no matter who they are but I doubt this will happen as we know this completion is not about fairness or evenness.
I too am very confident that we are in the clear. What I'd really like to hear though is confirmation from some of our SS posters with inside connections at the club... come on guys, please give us that confirmation.
Furthermore, as has been wisely pointed out by OP'ers, we must be clean..., coz since when has St Kilda ever been good at the Board-unity and keeping-things-in-house stuff...?
Besides, at St Kilda we have no history of ever taking substances that boost our performance...
The pre-game champers at the 1913 GF still comes to mind...
Too bloody humble IMHO Reggie. You should post more.Reggie wrote:I’m Just a humble tradie...

Re: St Thomo
Last night I turned onto 'Footy Classified' par way through a discussion.................. can't recall who said it, maybe Caro, maybbe Garry, so may have got the gist of it wrong. It was something along the lines of.................. that the coach needs to be accross and have more control over all areas in a club not have things sectioned off into various other groups. Coach shouldn't only be the coach. I think it was in relation to James Hird seemingly having little knowledge or say in what really was happening at Essendon at all levels.
Well wasn't that what GT did in his time at the helm? Had his finger on the pulse completely. From contracts, to coaching, to fitness, to developing camps overseas trips etc.................... even entertaining team members at his home. Plus having the time and decency chatting to members online at s/s and on the Saints site.. GT was pilloried for having such control...................... oh how the wheel turns!

Told him that on twitter today Loris, I thought it was amusing as well
They all used to joke that you'd ring St Kilda and ask to speak to various departments and GT would answer every one of them.
Not sure there will be a rush to appoint rookies that learn on the job moving forward.

careful or you will be accused of brown nosing...Con Gorozidis wrote:I just want to see I feel terrific privilege to have St Thomo's thoughts aired on here.
Imagine the PR and legal and media teams crazed meetings right now at the clubs and AFL headquarters.
How can they spin it? Looks like the Bombers are going for the Nuremberg defence where they were all innocent little lambs led astray and given orders by dishonest 'baddies' - dank and robinson.
The core theme is that AFL head honchos treats its fans like dumbos who they can spin to with the help of good PR and media control. Their own little apparel wearing mushrooms who will keep opening their wallets.

rexy wrote:The AFL illicit drug policy is stronger and harder than that of any other sport I know, the AFL are testing constantly for NON performance enhancing drugs both in and out of competition, in most other other workplaces the only way you will get busted for this kind of activity is to turn up smashed or shoot up in your work toilets, this includes other sports codes! Most people's root cause of not liking the AFL illicit drug code is that the AFL have info they don't have and human nature is to be nosy!
The PED policy is controlled by ASADA and is in no way the AFLs to administer or execute, if clubs have got away with it it means that ASADA need to up their game!
asada is paid a lot of money by the various codes.....they have some explaining to do imhfo....
