Most probably...

There are alot of poeple who are willing to do anything to maintain their lifestyle, even though it has a direct negative effect on many others local and abroad. Kinda like Murdoch.

Some are well aware of what they are doing, some are not... most of them are conservative voters.

Also feel very sorry for Milney. Would be terrible to have endure this year after year. Muck rakers digging it up every year to keep tarnishing his name an throwing in the word stkilda as much as possible.

Milne has a strength of character you have to admire. To have to deal with this crap every year.

No charges have been laid, none will be.

Isn't there a statute of limitations on these type of things? There was when I did legal studies many years ago.

In any case, I hear the inquiry will be more into the integrity of the police investigation than anything else.

Hang on. Let's not get carried away here. The police are not re-opening the investigation. It is simply a case of the police investigating themselves. The Office of Police Integrity is wanting to satisfy itself that the original investigation was conducted impartially and without fear, favour or advantage to the St Kilda football club. If you read the most recent press reports this new investigation is HIGHLY UNLIKELY to result in any criminal charges. They are just raking over the coals and the coals on this are well and truly stone cold. The fact is there is no evidence here. If there was Milney would have been charged long ago. He hasn't and that is the end of the story. The timing of this is unfortunate with such an important game just around the corner. Let's hope Milney doesn't read the paper and gets out there and kicks 7 as we know he can.

Nobody on this forum is upset about the proposal of police reopening an investigation - rather they are upset because once again The Shrieking Hun puts the St kilda shield on the front page of their dishrag (I won't call it a newspaper) and drags Milne's name through the mud once more.
If it were me I would be getting the finest solicitor I could find, then engage an equally fine barristor, and sue the pants off the journo who put my name on the front page with that rubbish again. I would come out swinging, especially as it is all nothing but a beat up to sell papers. I would go for the jugular of the individual with the by line. This is not fourth estate stuff, this is just gutter filth.

There is no statute of limitations on crimes such as rape or murder, Big Carl, but there certainly should be a statute of limitations on reporters who drag innocent people's names through the mud, after years of abuse. I wonder how he would enjoy it if some of us had a closer look at HIS past. I wonder if he has any skeletons in his closet...

Milne was accused of a very serious crime and with the evidence going missing he will be called a rapist by some for the rest of his life.

He may be a tiprat but he is not a rapist.

I love how the media has always reported on this case over the course of an AFL season and never during an off-season. Seems so convenient for them.

Still reckon he should mount a legal case against whomever put his face and name on the front page for a crime which he is not even being investigated for. Whether that be the guy with the by line or a sub editor. If his child gets bullied at school go after damages. And he'll get them too.

I agree with the comment that it is pleasing to read the descriptions of the Murdoch media group from most on here.

The facts of the matter are that Murdoch supported the election of a Conservative government in the UK - and that government is already comprehensively on the nose by governing for the privilaged and driving the country into recession.

As the New York Times said in an Editorial in October last year, the UK is a failed experiment where idealogue substitutes for economic management.

There is a stench to the Cameron government - and the Labour Party in the UK is the rising star (notwithstanding Blair's fatal mistake of supporting Bush over the "weapons of mass destruction" lie).

In France, this weekend we will see the end of Right wing rule - the people have had enough of the politics of favour and privilage and the Socialists will sweep to power.

In Germany, in mid term elections, the Right wing party of Merkel was comprehensively thrashed - and the polls remain strongly against Merkel.

She will be gone by the end of the year.

But, in Australia we have Murdoch preaching what he is preaching - looking for Australia to go down the same failed path as the UK and the others who are changing their governments.

And then there is the anti Obama attacks!

Just do not buy his papers or subscribe to his networks - and his massive debt will kill him off.

And, above all, do not give him the governments he wants!!!

These days money talks more than ever so voting with your money or your purchase can be sometimes just as effective as at the ballot box.

I've been going out of my way for a few years now to make sure I give Murdoch as little of my hard earned as possible.

If he starts buying breweries I might be in trouble though...

It would take more than just us saints fans NOT buying News Ltd stuff, BUT if the club felt agrieved and more so some of our Board members (especially the CEO of Coles) and they leant on News Ltd by way of their advertising $$$$$$ it would have a much greater effect !!

That it would...

A bloke I worked with a few years ago felt disenfranchised with his vote.

I explained to him how a few votes in Florida back in 2000 decided who ruled the free world.

The rest is history, and our sytem is different, however...

Everyday you make decisions with what you buy, view, or consume, more or less votes in what products you support with your money or your time.

And those people who don't know Milne, the young lady involved, or what really happened and are willing to still label someone with that title are a waste of space.

I thought, it was just a thought that our club this year might go without any off field scandals. Here we go again another distraction to a player and playing group, coaches and officals. This is not what we need year in and out. C,mon saints and sandy lets be in the medias eye for the right reasons for at least one season.

Frustruted saints fan...

This is NOT a 2012 scandal. It is a 2004 incident that involved two of our players at the time. What it is now is a 2010 police probe into police procedures that has been grossly misrepresented by the Herald Sun, Ch9 & MMM !!

With all due respect jason, I hardly think our club or its' players can be held responsible in the least for this one. This is just a way of selling papers on the back of Milne kicking his 500th goal and trying to cash in on this publicity.
I hope the Saints respond tonight by absolutely flogging the Hawks.
