Personally I reckon given ruckmen generally only come on after 4-5 years minimum, you're better off getting them off the rookie list as speculative picks because it's a gamble trying to pick who'll be good in 5-10 years.noob wrote:I'd probably go for a ruckman with our 35-37-42 pick.
Many of the best ruckmen in the league have been rookies:
- Cox
- Sandilands
- Jolly
- Jamar
- Mumford
- Brogan
Granted that there have been guys like
- Ottens
- Ryder
- McEvoy
- Goldstein
- Naitanui
But I think that you're more likely to get what you pay for with a mid, whereas with a ruckman it's a lottery, so you're better off
a) Drafting rookie ruckmen and trying to develop them
b) Trading for experienced ruckmen who are known quantities e.g. Ottens, Jolly, Hudson, Mumford, Renouf, Gardiner
