Can't believe some people are actually okay with BJ leaving.
BJ, Dal Santo, Fisher IMO are the 3 players we would be trying like mad to hang on to.
Losing the decision making, disposal and leadership they provide would be a huge negative weather we are maintaing our assult towards a flag or rebuilding.

Not because I don't like him as a player however I just think it's obvious he will have huge money thrown at him and we should be doing something about it while we can get something for some of our players.Sainternist wrote:What?!?! You actually hope he leaves?Cairnsman wrote:Geez I hope so

he carried ahip injury most of the year and still worked his guts out-- we will never achieve by trading away our quality........ before the game- and if I could find the video I'd know how to spell it- had two injuryies repaired when he went in. the suggestion was given to him that one of them wasn't new and he said yeh he may have had it a while.plugger66 wrote:When was this hip injury mentioned? Bratty, never hear about the hip injury either, but I share your exact sentiments on Brendan.saintbrat wrote:he carried ahip injury most of the year and still worked his guts out-- we will never achieve by trading away our quality........ Not at all wise nuts. My argument is sound. Losing Goddard will not be the worst thing that could happen in a trade deal. The worst thing that could happen is if we lose him for zero. The drums have been beating loadly for a while on this one and the drums usually never lie.Sainternist wrote:Bratty, never hear about the hip injury either, but I share your exact sentiments on Brendan.saintbrat wrote:he carried ahip injury most of the year and still worked his guts out-- we will never achieve by trading away our quality........ We will also get nothing for him if we keep him!! Which you seem so sure wont happen. Why?Cairnsman wrote:Not at all wise nuts. My argument is sound. Talked about it on BFG, he definitely carried it all year and definitely affected his movement.saintbrat wrote:before the game- and if I could find the video I'd know how to spell it- had two injuryies repaired when he went in. the suggestion was given to him that one of them wasn't new and he said yeh he may have had it a while.plugger66 wrote:When was this hip injury mentioned? They had to drag the comments out of him, he was at pains to say he wasn't making excuses.
Not that sort of bloke.
Just like Lenny playing an extra week with his ACL torn back in 2006
It isnt sound because we are talking about Carlton who have pick 22. How is that any good to us. We could wait until the end of next year and if he wanted to leave then we would get 2 first rounders if he went to GWS. It makes no sense to let him even try and end up at Carlton.Cairnsman wrote:Not at all wise nuts. My argument is sound. Losing Goddard will not be the worst thing that could happen in a trade deal. The only way we could lose him for nothing wiser nuts is if he walked in 3 years… by which time we could have him on the veterans list and easily match any rivals offers, so stop beating off on your drums so loudlyCairnsman wrote:Not at all wise nuts. Which drums were beating? The doldrums?Cairnsman wrote:Not at all wise nuts. My argument is sound. Losing Goddard will not be the worst thing that could happen in a trade deal. Perhaps he found himself a little in the doldrums, but he will pick himself out after a proper pre-season.
I think we'd be mad to let him go. We need to keep a player with his sort of versatility. These type of players are rare.
Plus, it's a risk trading for him. How can you be sure we'll get a good deal?
Only people like Hutchy believe in trading him. Surely, you're not stooping to that level, Cairnsman?

All I'm saying is that the noises are getting louder and history proves that where there's noise there is big cash. He's done at the Saints mark my words. He knows he's not going to get a premiership at the Saints and I reckon that has to come into his decission making.Sainternist wrote:Which drums were beating? This is where you dont make sense. You are probably right that he wont win a flag at the Saints but neither will Dal, Joey or Rooy. Why do you think they wont want to go either. Lets trade them now just in case.Cairnsman wrote:All I'm saying is that the noises are getting louder and history proves that where there's noise there is big cash. And by the way over 1000 players have never won a flag at the Saints. Most of them didnt go to another club.
