Why is that the best way to judge his game? We've always been renowned as a team defence.
Petrie did nothing against us and it had bugger all to do with Zac.
You can make stats say whatever you want, the game is played on grass not paper.

I think it's hugely significant, you don't have to agree.

I was super impressed with the two quarters I saw of our defenders up the end I was sitting, they were truly very, very good.

Dawson and Raphs defensive efforts particularly stood out to me, that's why I gave them votes.

Unless they were crap up the other end?

You don't think he played well?

I thought our defence was very good, as it was last week, and Zac wasn't there last week.

When you take the number 1 forward every week you are going to cop a bit of flack from time to time, it's impossible to stop every opponent. Does Zac have some brain fades? Perhaps but I'd prefer to call them split second mistakes. I can't recall a forward taking him to town and I doubt at present we have a better option to take the best forwards in the comp - Just an opinion.

I was listening to Sports National this morning just after the 8am news, when a caller rang in and asked Mick McGuane his opinion on Zac.

Mick said that he didn't rate Zac very highly, and that he has been made look like a reasonable player by the defensive structure around him.
But when the structure falls down and he is left in a one on one contest he is exposed as an ordinary full back.

Mick also went on to state that one of the games great forwards, Wayne Carey, has a very, very low opinion of Dawson's ability!!!

Now I'm sure posters will get on here and say that these twoknow nothing about football, but personally I rate these two as having very good footballing brains and when they talk a lot of people listen.

If Goddard had tackled Selwood and he slipped down in the process of being tackled we would be calling for selwood to be banned for life for staging. As it stands Zac was an "idiot"?

The caller should have asked Mick about the best way to manage gambling debts & seen if the Duck could provide some marital/best mate advice.

You may like to justify your opinion on two people not involved with the club. Ex AFL players can be wrong & have ill informed opinions just like you or I.

Zac is a very good one on one defender when he gets himself in the correct position. His problem is playing too far in front at times & getting caught out by the long bomb to his man. His disposal is ordinary but still better than Max's ever was. I very rarely heard Max being ridiculed on here about his kicking (which was ordinary to say the least).

Zac is an easy target & nothing will change that.

Zac was a much better player a couple of years ago when he was a rookie fighting for a spot on the list, keeping Max out of the team.

He raised the bar himself and showed for an entire season what a good, consistent defender he can be.

Those of you excusing his brain fades, i ask the question- shouldn't a player make fewer mistakes as he gains experience, not more?

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

I'm just trying to establish whether Zac has been beaten by an opponent? - a couple of goals from a premier forward doesn't qualify.

I can't remember but surely he's been towelled up at least a couple of times?

Ok player

Some aweful brain fades.....

Suspension the other wek one

Taking eye off ball and grabbing opponent another

His shephard on krakour...hilarious

Kicking and decision making can be woeful

That being said,......a pretty reliable fullback.....rare commodity

I think Simpkin will make a very solid full back.
He plays consistently well for Sandy.

Logically he would be the one to replace Dawson.
So the pressure is on Zac.

Yep, no Brownlow medalist but some reliable attributes. What do you want in a FB? Criteria seems to rate dependability at a premium.

You wouldn't want anyone else currently on our list to be taking Buddy, if and when we tackle the Hawks in the finals.

he's not a problem..no matter what these armchair experts post...one only needs to go back to the coaches votes in last years two grand-finals to realise how much they value zac.....he'd be one of the first picked these days...he's our full back...so get behind him ffs....

Geelong won a flag with Hawkins as a KPP. Its a silly comment especially since Zac has been one of our best players in 3 GF's. Surely it is how you perform on the big day and he certainly has no problems. You are the master of the over statement.
