Gwilt would be in the Top 10 of the B&F easily....

Goddard, Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo, Milne, Gilbert, Gwilt, Fisher, Jones, Ray, Baker, Blake, Gardiner, Schnieder, McQualter, Gram, Koschitzke, Peake, Geary, McEvoy.

James Gwilts improvement, has been huge in our development, and improvement.

He's the real deal now, cool under pressure, good skills, good over head, and quick.

ATM he looks like he'll be a 200 game player... he's a gun.

Interesting post, his body shape and size, speed over a short distance and kicking skills are all similar to Gtrain in his early days.

From memory G started his career as a big wingman/flanker, played a bit in the backline and then settled into full forward for his last 100 odd games, is this what you are suggesting?

Cetrainly possible that the Jimmy G of 2012 could be a permenant forward?

Maybe this year?

Jimmy has a naturally strong build but I didn't think he is tall enough for a KPP. What height difference is he with G-train?

No longer even remotely one sided. 5 or 6 quality kicks off the right. Has confidence in it now.

Pretty much bullied attmpted tackles in the wet.

Awesome.

Gwilt has very big hips, and really just a big ass, no other way to put it. He is very very strong through the hips, core and lower body. Just shrugs those tacks, and his first few strides are quite quick. Great streaming drive from defence.

Jimmy was fantastic he has come a long way from suburban footy. The great thing is that he is so strong and versitile he can play on ball and forward if need be.

The goal i thing against collingwood (my memory is fading i think)this year was a Fantastic one.

He constantly beats bigger players and is so quick and very sure footed.

Question.

We know Ross has a proven talent at getting the best out of someone, was giving Jimmy the task of going to Adam Goodes in the preseason comp, a really good move in terms of Jimmy's development this year?

Had the ability, the body, the skill set required....and just seemed to be lacking confidence.

Trusting him with a big opponent, and he winning the battle, could that have been the beginnings of Jimmy believing?

BOG last night for mine, probably the best game I have seen any of our players play this year including Lenny vs WC - absolutely superb. Has such a nice boot on him and the right slipper's not too bad either

I was about to do a post about how fantastic Gwilt's smother was and was googling to check whether it was late in the 1st quarter or the 3rd quarter and this post from May last year came up (removed poster's name as there may have been many who shared the view at the time):
Gwilt will get found out, being carried, there is absolutely no danger of Gwilt ever smothering a ball off the boot, he makes a token half effort to close down the opponent and then waist high put a couple of arms out just to give the impression that he's made an effort, because he knows he'd get dragged if he didn't, but there's no danger of him ever actually spoiling a footy off an opponent's boot,
I guess a year is a long time in footy.

The smother on Stokes warrants a 2nd and 3rd look. It was fantastic. Jimmy was going the wrong way, but just flung himself back towards the feet of Stokes when it looked highly improbably he could have any impact on the shot for goal. Crucial play.
