Listening to Cat fans suggesting we "only were in it cause umps helped us"FFS.....OR that Riewoldt "failed on the biggest day and Harry cleaned him up again...." or that "wasnt Bombers coaching move brilliant as Hayes was ineffectual after half time...." all kill me and all you can say is...."ah well....there's always next year".
A lot has to go right to get there again. Im not certain we will have that run with luck so that dampens my enthusiasm somewhat - I dont buy the whole "saints lost so they will be more hungry"cr@p. All sides will be hungry.
I just fkn pray Girlong gets smacked out of it early next year - I CAN NOT stand them, their shyte selfish "Ablett", and that jockeyed voice Chapman.
Sadly if i EVER air my views on these to Geelong fans Im quickly shut up by "yeah.......but they are Premiership players - whats Riewoldt?"
Argument over. That hurts.

Thats the problem. Its not about individuals so who cares if they never won a flag. Geelong the club have won out of three and that is what matters.Milan Faletic wrote:Ask them how Billy Brownless, Gary Ablett Snr, Stoneham, Couch, Hocking/s and all of those guys are going.Teflon wrote:Listening to Cat fans suggesting we "only were in it cause umps helped us"FFS.....OR that Riewoldt "failed on the biggest day and Harry cleaned him up again...." or that "wasnt Bombers coaching move brilliant as Hayes was ineffectual after half time...." all kill me and all you can say is...."ah well....there's always next year".

I'm more hellbent on seeing them win it in 2010 now. More than anything else I'm focused, angry and hungry! I'm probably not going to be the most pleasant supporter for oppositions crowds to sit next to in all honesty
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
That's the harsh reality.
We all know we should have won last year's Grand Final, but we didn't, and we can't ever change that or get it back.
It will forever be etched in history as a Cats flag, that hurts but we must now look at our next chance because that one is gone.
2010 we need to work hard, 2009 was a ton of hard work, we need to sustain that and do it again and find that extra 5% to fend off the rivals coming from below.
We are probably the best team in the comp, we were last year, so we should feel confident.
The Falcons lost their preliminary final and McMillan-Pittard's AFL team - St Kilda - was beaten by Geelong the following week. Ross Lyon asked the teenager, in his interview with the Saints, what he would have done to ensure a better result. This time, he didn't want to say too much.
''It was the week after the game and I don't think you should tell a coach what he should have done,'' he smiled.
''All I said was, 'I thought St Kilda lost it rather than Geelong winning it, but I don't need to tell you that!' He said he'd watched it a number of times already and I just thought: how could you go through that? I was in mourning. I was too busy trying to wipe it out of my memory.''
should have stuck to his guns, told them to keep hitting up forwards and creating stoppages in the forward line. Back your team mates to run the ball and get it into scoring positions, worked in every other quarter for the year. Saying "kick it long" in the final quarter led to the winning goal IMO.saintbrat wrote:http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews ... 69380.htmlThe Falcons lost their preliminary final and McMillan-Pittard's AFL team - St Kilda - was beaten by Geelong the following week. what would you have said?
Perhaps isolate roo one out in the goal square and go more mobile through half forward.
Use mini as a small back and work raph forward?
encourage someone to go the bash after hawkins first goal and get geelongs mind off the ball?
Poor kid, hard question to tell the runner up coach

I think we need to improve by 10% next year, particularly in kicking skills, and the group need to learn how to pace themselves over the year. We don't really need a 20-2 season as it has been shown. Geelong were 21-1 in 2008 and I think they learned from that year, how to win this year. Maybe we can do the same.HarveysDeciple wrote:That's the harsh reality.

the fires of that loss still burn so furiously.
Haven't recovered in the slightest yet. It was the perfect season, everything went right with injuries, winning flukey games, playing as a furious team working towards a goal. Everything came together so perfectly.
Still utterly crushed we couldn't kick straight in the grand final and put the cats to sleep.
I think i might start to get a taste of vengeance by about round 10 - 2010.
