Not worried about Fev, just look at his record against good fullbacks like Max, Scarlett, he hardly touches the ball.
He has played on nobody full backs for the last two weeks.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

i'm thinking that one of gilbert, blake or dawson will play gwilt's usual role this week.

thinking in terms of BJ myself

If Milne plays I would think Blake will go forward as the backline is still top heavy and Max and Blake together isnt great for the skills of the backline. Obviously Jimmy comes in if Milney doesnt play so Blake cannot go forward.

IMO Armitage is a far more talented player and if he applied himself could be a superior player to Mini, tackling, chasing, harrassing and going hard at the ball are things that everyone is capable of, it just comes down to your state of mind. If Armo could get himself into that state of mind he could easily play Mini's role and be more damaging offensively.
Agree that it would be a big plus for us if Armo could get himself into a position where he's demanding selection. He can't be too far away if he's being named as an emergency.

bj's the most likely to kick a bag, true, but plugger has it right about the balance aspect.

blake or dawson most likely to play forward, imo. he'll go for a settled back six before he worries about kicking goals if i read him right.

Thoght Blake was very lucky to retain his spot in front of Gwilt, Still think Raph is best 22 but his form does not warrant selection and he will need to prove himself again to get his spot back. Disagree with some on Mcqualter, dont see him dropping out of the side unless his form changes, regardless of who is pressing for his spot.

Maybe this year?

With all respect what is Blake going to do up forward?

If that were the case surely Gwilt would have been a better option, firstly his skill level and secondly he has been playing that structure all year.

Excellent point but maybe RL like the flexibility that Blake gives him. Jimmy has a little flexibilty but not as much as Blake.

Get no respect from Carlton, find himself loose in the 50 and kick some easy goals. Not a long-term solution, but it wouldn't surprise me if he bagged a few while the opposition doesn't even know he's there as they're triple-teaming Roo and Kosi.

Very happy with the team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Blakey run around the ground with Kreuzer & Gardy running forward to really stretch them.

BJ to be all over the place but spend more time forward.

Very surprised to see them drop Brad Fisher. He gets back in, kicks 3 goals, adds to their fwd line mix & then gets the boot. Actually quite happy that he's out.

If Setanta plays CHF look for us to use Chips on him to exploit his lack of footy nous & have a huge game across half back.

Would just love to absolutely thump this mob, prime time on a Friday night & show the AFL/Ch 7 who really deserves the best tv time slots.

I've been told that Brad Fisher will play as Thornton will be a late change.

This team though is better than any of the previous 11 picked.

Add to this as well that both Roo and Schneider started the year not fully fit and you get our best team this year.

Possibly we have one two many tall slow defenders with so so footskills....but none the less this is a better team than any yet picked.

The Blues are going to find it very hard to win.
and hard to kick a decent score...

O’hAilpin CHF lol..
Why would you even comment on where they are named. Lenny hasnt kicked a lot of goals for a FP this year.
What a silly comparison ....

Fact is that O’hAilpin has played up forward at times this year and managed 3 goals from his 4 matches...

As I mentioned previously, Carlton seem to have a defensive line up, with the inclusion of Bannister for Fisher and O’hAilpin possibly having a defensive forward role for Sam Fisher

Interesting point about Blake. Running with Keizer would be the go for him, like he does with Goodes. Could be spot on.

I'd say that Max is part of the 2009 grand plan, and Zac is a revelation. No Zac and Goose would beplaying seniors at CHB.

Gilbert provides run as does Fisher.

So if the current back 6 settles, it will be interesting if either BJ or Gilbert become permanent fwds.

IMO Gwilt was stiff but it was always gunna be a very tough decision if Milne was fit.Still not convinced that Milne will play but rarely does Ross play "ducks & drakes" so we'll have to wait & see how it pans out.Still a strong team I really hope they can get the "spark" back this week & give those cheating low life carlscum another floggin

I think the team lacks the balance that it has "enjoyed" so far this year. In particular, the omission of Gwilt leaves a real hole.

So many seem to suggest that playing blokes way out of their comfort zones, up forward, is an experiment worth taking. Rubbish. It never works. Whilst the "ins" (if they all play) are more or less automatics, the "outs" are not. The most obvious "out", for balance and on performance, in my book, Max, has been ignored. We'll see tomorrow night who's right and who's not.

Gilbert better than R Clarke

Milne better than Gwilt

I really don't see the problem...

Max is now in so is that your problem?

Indeed we will...and I challenge you to answer this question

Hypothetical scenario...Max plays the whole game on Fev...how many goals would you expect Fev to kick...given your opinion of Max as an over rated dud who is years past his use-by date??

I say four goals tops..what say you?

I'm tipping shots at goal to be 5 to 6, so it's any ones guess...

I would say 3 to 4 goals max

Fev will be starved of opportunities and move up the ground to gather possessions..

The ins are walkup's and I never thought Max would be dropped back after one game, wasn't realy many choices to drop.

Four? Gee that's big of you. So far this year, Fev has kicked 39 goals in 11 games - average 3.5 - against almost all of the teams we have beaten. And yet, in a pathetic attempt to play Max at any cost, you are willing to concede 4 goals before you think he might not be that greatest full back of the century.

If he is such a "gun", and given that no-one disagrees that he is a one trick pony in that he can only punch and produce a problem that someone else has to deal with, I should say 2. But I will give you 3 - a figure that no backman has conceded so far this year and may well lead to our defeat, a result supporters of Max seemingly are quite happy to see as long as he plays.
