I totally agree on Zac Dawson.

We are very light on for key defenders, especially ones that are 6'4, athletic & have a few years of development already in them.

While Dawson was roundly criticised after Clarkson threw him to the wolves, he definitely did show some ability.

He would be very handy as depth behind Max, Goose and Gilbo & would potentially allow Goose or Chips to play forward.

He's only 21-22... heaps of development time & with SOS' tutelage, I reckon he could still become a solid key defender.

Zac has never been a defender - Grew up as a ruckman.

From what I saw from those game - He was lost.

Was held goaless by Casey defender Alex Silvagni this year at Box Hill maybe we should be looking at Silvagni as a tall defender

Now, my thoughts are:

Damon White (Port) - too old -
He's about 25

The only ones delisted so far I would consider, based on Saints needs are: Wade Mills, key back, Gary Moss, mid and Damon White, key Fwd
(White may get looked at by the 2 WA clubs)

No Contract, No contact

It would appear that there is now only Sydney to complete it's delisting by next friday 31st
http://www.afl.com.au/News/2008Retireme ... fault.aspx

although a couple of clubs appear to have gone light- ie WCE
and in reality ( despite the headlines about Slashing and Cutting and Axing) we have delisted or had retire no more than most and less than some

I cant believe we delisted Birrs and Attard

Attard was playing some really good footy before he screwed his knee. Now that Dempsters stuffed his knee, Attard would be the perfect replacement in his spot next year. Who doesnt remember his effort near the boundary line 2v1, I remembered it, I dont see the lucky few in my list below ever doing such a thing.

Birrs imo was in the starting 22.
How Fiora, X-Clarke, Gwilt, McQualter, Eddy, survived before him, no idea.

Im just angry we lost Birr and Attard, fair enough on the others, but not those two.

attard would not have been a remotely adaqute replacement for dempster,

dempster can actually kick the pill...attard cant

dempster can play tall and short...attard struggles when playing short

dempster can run...attard gets burned by anyone with pace
