Well the OP was about 18k membership. It was taken off track by a poste wanting to make points about the ex president.

Brilaintly put Joff. Why do people play the man and not the issue here?

Saint66 - I truly was enjoying this thread till I could see the hijack coming from miles away...why cant mods? (thats where this rubbish get stopped).

This is not directed at saint66au in spite of the quote, as i infer from the last line that he doesn't believe it realistic to expect any forgoance of pay.

However, I thought I'd jump on it because in that first paragraph, we have a perfect snapshot of what many seem to think a reasonable course of action. I find it mind boggling. I'm leaving my current place of employ in a few weeks for greener pastures, and hold nothing but goodwill towards the company I'm leaving - but if they had asked me to forgo my leave, I'd tell them to take a hike.

I love St. Kilda Footy club, this year I've got my membership, my partners membership, and I'm considering a social club membership, and one of those baby memberships they're offering.

However, if I thought the club owed me 100k, not for ones econd would I hesitate to collect. If the situation was not black and white, I would employ legal advise to advise me on how best to collect.

When I signed up my bro back in 2004, and the club sent me a $10 cheque, I never cashed it. That's disposable income that I can happily donate to a club that provides me with a lot of entertainment, and provides a great emotional release at the end of the week.

But 100k? You'd need to be pretty well off to walk away from that... That's a LOT of love to expect from someone.

Top post Bam!(shhhhhh)

Why can't people accept that Thomas can perfectly well love the Saints but also feel that he owes it to his family (he has a fair few mouths to feed after all) to pursue what he obviously regards as money he is legitimately owed. If he isn't due it then the legal people will sort this out. If he is he should be awarded the money.

Either way he will still be a Saints man.

Sadly it is only the agenda-driven anti-GT brigade who can't see this.

What the mods should do is set up a seperate forum for all GT/RB debate. or just sticky one massive thread, and everyone who wants to talk about either GT or RB has to post in that forum or thread and leave everyone else alone and stick on topic. Hijackers get a warning and everyone can move on with their lives and deal with the issues at hand, and if they wanna talk about GT or RB they can do it in the dedicated area for it.

I suppose it depends on whether its true. if he is owed the money then fine. but

if he isn't then he should get lost.

Yes it is our right, but other members are complaining about threads gettings "hijacked" and we are getting off-topic. I'm not marching in and giving orders, just making a suggestion following some posts from other members.

As for the right to abuse, this does not mean that members of the board can insult each other. Now grow up and accept my comments for what they are, simple ideas, because I'm not here to have school-yard shouting matches with obtuse and self-righteous individuals.

BACK ON TOPIC !!

I think there will be a surge in membership numbers during the 2 weeks starting Monday 7 Jan. This will be when all the "Christmas Present" memberships flood in.

I say 2 weeks because it could possibly take that long (I hope it is longer) to clear the backlog.

Also, please be patient folks. Most of those in the membership processing Dept are volunteers who work their butts off for the love of the club, and they do a fantastic job !!

Yep. The Manager - Memberships is paid, but the poor souls on the phone are very much doing it for the love of the club. And they are just fantastic ppl. They even go down to the club on weekends to work through membership backlogs!!

Good on em. I'd love to volunteer to do something for the Sainters, however I don't think there is much I can do up here in Sydney.

If you want to, you could contact the Sydney Saints supporter group. I'm sure that they would welcome any assistance you can give. Ultimately the club benifits from their work, as it does from ALL of our Interstate and Regional supporter groups !!

Not a bad idea! Anyone on here a member of that group or have contact information for them?
