He’s only 20yo and 198cm and skinny as a rake
Should he be playing against AFL size key fwds/defenders?!

What did you think of Hayden McLean when he was 20 years of age at Sandringham?SAINT-LEE wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jun 2024 3:00pmWhy should he be retained?saynta wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jun 2024 1:35pmKeeler gone? f*** off.SAINT-LEE wrote: ↑Fri 14 Jun 2024 3:28pm Angus McClennan - gone

I said he has all the skills, talent, even attitude but yet cant seem to bring it bear consistently...and I dont mean overall...even in quarters, he will play good, then awful...no seemingly different opponent pressure, lack of opportunity...he just fades. Big man syndrome? Or underdeveloped endurance or gets tired of trying? Hell, I dont know. It almost seems like a playground outcome, we are smashing it, he has a good go, we are suffering & need him to stand up...struggles.
That's my main concern after watching him in 9 games over 2 seasons.
I think we will keep him but my gut says cut him loose because he's all potential & no return.
Would you swap Keeler for Hayden McLean?
Of course SAINTS would... but Sydney aren't giving him up are they!?
My point is, we should show some patience with young talls. Put in the work over a 4 year period and show some faith in Keeler and hopefully he rewards the club in the long run.
Also...if we give him a 4 year contract at unders, it could work out to be a great investment and it could help our salary cap in 3-4 years time

Re: Changes at end of the year
Turnover of 9 players will guarantee the list going backwards.
You want to turn over 3 or 4 for the main draft, 1 for rookie draft, 1 for preseason selection.
So a total of 5 or 6.
Campbell, Jones, Hotton, Allison, Byrnes, Hayes.
Ross could go in that list instead of Byrnes or Hayes but I think he has leadership to offer our young midfielders coming through.

I think there has been more than 6 list changes for quite a few years in a row, i used to have those stats but i've binned them.Otiman wrote: ↑Tue 25 Jun 2024 8:22pm Turnover of 9 players will guarantee the list going backwards.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Changes at end of the year
A long term low investment contract might help us. Keeler has the goods but can't yet get the delivery right. Maybe he comes good? If so, itd be awesome.Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 24 Jun 2024 10:12pmWhat did you think of Hayden McLean when he was 20 years of age at Sandringham?SAINT-LEE wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jun 2024 3:00pmWhy should he be retained?saynta wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jun 2024 1:35pmKeeler gone? f*** off.SAINT-LEE wrote: ↑Fri 14 Jun 2024 3:28pm Angus McClennan - gone

Re: Changes at end of the year
From memory since 2019 the highest turn over has been 9 and the lowest 7 per season.bobmurray wrote: ↑Thu 27 Jun 2024 7:23pmI think there has been more than 6 list changes for quite a few years in a row, i used to have those stats but i've binned them.Otiman wrote: ↑Tue 25 Jun 2024 8:22pm Turnover of 9 players will guarantee the list going backwards.

I’d expect at least 7 based on averages.
