Hayes has a bit of the G trains about him
Still hoping Max comes good, but gee he’s easily beaten sometimes

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
Re the game. I think we're doing well given our relatively weak midfield and how many changes we've had to our lineup lately.
Apart from Hayes, I've been really impressed with Windhager and Wilson. And Hill and NWM are a great combination. And, as the commentators have pointed out, Howard has belied his "whipping boy" status on fan forums.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
Good first half. Still made some errors, and I hate the slow backwards to go forward movement, but I guess that is just about controlling the footy.
Having Webster back has allowed Sinclair into the midfield. His clearance poise is something of beauty. Windhager had his best half of footy, what a difference a few players make.
Anyone who suggested Hayes isn't important to this team, know little about the game. We will no longer have to rely on King.
Naz back to form is important. Wood looks rejuvunated and like he hasnt missed a game. Dougal has done well and is holding his marks.
Pou & Owens still a bit off the pace.
Hopefully things will click and we can fill our boots in the 2nd half.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
It's going to be a pretty important second half. If we drop the ball and let them back in, it's going to be highly detrimental to our young players.

King has been burnt a few times by horrible delivery.
Our tackling is still putrid.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
Max King has to be the laziest footballer ever to play the game, I'll be shocked if he keeps up this poor attitude and doesn't get dropped.
There was absolutely no attempt to attack that ball aerially and try and jump to mark it.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
Hastie unlucky to be subbed, only a couple of touches but some great efforts and a couple of taps to advantage that don't count on the stat sheet. As much as I want to see him given plenty of opportunities, Phillipou has been basically invisible.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
Ok 40+ I’ll take
It’s scrappy we haven’t been great but the opposition is terrible too
Hayes has def added to our front half
Hastie looked good
Wilson a star - in that draft right now he’d have to go top 10??

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
We're winning, but it has been far from impressive so far.
The good has been Wilson, Hayes, Hill, Windhager and Howard.
The bad, getting beaten bad in the centre clearances, missed tackles, fumbling, Max, poor skills and poor entries into the forward 50 which is contributing to Max.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
So King gets to play as the number 1 forward and what does he deliver?
I reckon we'd be better off with Caminiti. Trade Max at the end of this year.
Get set for a few frustrating games where the coaches instructions are to look for Max at every opportunity. Don't worry... it's just a short term ploy to fatten up the pig before we auction it off

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
A defender, I think it was Wilkie, was held before the Roos' last goal.
Also, earlier on, the umpire pushed the mark for Simpkin about 5 metres closer towards the goal than where he marked the ball. However, this was partly Bonner's fault, as he didn't assert himself strongly enough.
