Re: Mattaes Phillipou
Funnily enough you backed up my post that said he played as a small forward and mid by confirming he played as a small forward and mid
In 2017 Sincs averaged 21 disposals per game.
8.5 contested
12.5 uncontested
2018/19 he stagnated and probably reflected the indecisiveness of the coaching and the fortunes of the team in those years.

Re: Mattaes Phillipou
Not where his confidence is at atm he wouldn’t.
I think the point is Sinclair went back to the 2’s, built up his body, learnt the position, got some confidence THEN came back into the 1’s, and look what an elite player he is!
I fear we will never know how good The Pou could be because of this dogged insistence that he MUST play seniors. It’s beyond ridiculous

Claiming playing Matteus in the firsts is beyond ridiculous is beyond ridiculous.Moods wrote: ↑Mon 06 May 2024 10:47pmNot where his confidence is at atm he wouldn’t.

Re: Mattaes Phillipou
You underestimate how easy it is to play HB
And how tough it is to play HF
Ask Harry Sheezel, Colby McKercher, Nasiah
Or even Arie Schoenmaker in the VFL
You defend corridor at CB then after the HFs go up to the contest, you sit back and play 6 v 4 in defence and 8/10 entries get an easy uncontested intercept or exit possession
Easiest role in footy by a mile

Re: Mattaes Phillipou
I am fully aware how ‘easy’ it is. You still have to read the play, attack the ball, and deliver it effectively. I know HFF is a difficult position, but right now where effectively playing a man short.B.M wrote: ↑Mon 06 May 2024 11:53pm You underestimate how easy it is to play HB

He’s not reading the play at all and his possessions are ineffective. We are living in a dream world where we are trying to convince ourselves that the kid is showing something. Right now he’s not

Re: Mattaes Phillipou
It’s unjustifiable. All you’ve done is look at his size and his draft position and decided he’ll make it. There’s no way any person who watches lots of footy can possibly justify his position in the team this yearYorkeys wrote: ↑Mon 06 May 2024 11:02pmClaiming playing Matteus in the firsts is beyond ridiculous is beyond ridiculous.Moods wrote: ↑Mon 06 May 2024 10:47pmNot where his confidence is at atm he wouldn’t.

Re: Mattaes Phillipou
This is his real problem and accounts for his low number of possessions.
He is never in the right place to win a possession and never in the right place to receive a possession.
It is hard to play football well if you can't get your hands on the ball.
The slower pace of play at Sandy may help him develop.
Now he has signed on for the next 2 years the club can drop him to Sandy without fear of him running back to South Australia in a tantrum.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Junior football is more reliant on see ball get ball, but ball chasing doesn't work so well at AFL level.
The slower pace of play at Sandy may help him develop and let him learn to read the play.
