AFL started in 1990 I think with a couple of teams from interstate, Crows in 1993? then Freo and Port later. So its not anything like it was in '64 i.e. plenty of significant changes to the comp Victorian teams play in since Dees last saluted. Further and notwithstanding that the last two years' comp has been the best compromise the AFL could be expected to come up with and all power/credit to it, there have been other issues like the long standing almost random uneven draw, all the salary cap rorts by bigger clubs over time, the drug rumours around Geelong and the actual drugging of Essendon players.
Saying its 57 years of comparable contests is disingenuous. Sure the MFC seniors have not won the comp it has competed in since then but each time there is a significant change to a comp the clock surely resets to zero. The 57 years since meme is simply not comparing like with like, fair?
Whichever way you look at it, it’s been 55 years since we won a flag and it will be 56 by the time we get another chance. Lots of people here have been supporting the club right through that time. I can’t remember feeling any different when the Eagles joined or any of the other changes.
And I wouldn’t give a rat’s tossbag what other people said about COVID cups if we had snagged it last year or this year.
Some people are happy with meat and some people think Spam is meat.
Spam was invented in Minnesota so we think it is meat. (I like it fried when camping).
I love fried animal gizzards too but I prefer real meat.
Spam is almost real meat. The Spam Museum down in Austin, MN should convince ya!

Watching the pregame celebrations & excitement, the big numbers of Doggies & Dees expat supporters, the fantastic venue, natural beauty of Perth and the freedom WA citizens enjoy it looked anything but dud to me.
Looked exciting and joyous.
Perth makes Melbourne Sept 2021 look sad; dull as dish water; a dud.

Great game so far, I'm thoroughly enjoying it although I predict the Dogs will run out of petrol tickets due to their much harder path to the GF due to unfair COVID restrictions.
