I had to turn the trade table off. Is there three bigger flogs on tv that pretend they know what they are talking about?

Well if you exclude the "on tv" part I can think of one ;)

I do find the "I can't believe we'd offer pick #4 for Shiel, no way he's worth that!" vs "Pick #20 for Hickey or the Eagles can get stuffed!" narrative pretty amusing. One man's trash is another's treasure, or both simultaneously!

Fair deal for both clubs.
Setterfield will be one of the best steak knives in AFL history.
Shiel is a gun AFL midfielder.

Add McGovern, Shiel, Setterfield and maybe another senior player in the 25 YO range to Carlton’s young talent and they are on the verge of rapid improvement.

How can bottom of the ladder 18 year basket case Carlton attract McGovern, Setterfield & possibly Shiel?

Then there is Brisbane attracting Neale & Adams.

Main advantage if Shiel did select us is that it could cause a positive momentum shift at the club with both he and Hannebery having joined us.

Football clubs, and sporting teams, are funny creatures where once everyone gets in the zone the outcomes are so much better. ie Pis this year, Tigers, Doggies in their Premiership year etc.

Main possible negative aspect will be the pay disparity IF players like Billings etc hit their straps.

Shiel and Hannerbury is a disaster in the making for many many reasons.
Stupid money and paying way too much in draft picks for starters.
Three days ago pick four was off the table straight out of Leathlean's mouth, then three days later he says all assets are on the table! What a joke!
Hoping Shiel selects another club and I'll be pissed off if he selects St.Kilda which will be for stupid money and costing a first round draft pick, either 4 this year or 1 or 2 next year and more.

ST KILDA concedes it didn't know the full extent of prized recruit Dan Hannebery's struggles with his body when it traded for him.

I'll stop you there by saying that it was James Gallagher (new list manager) who said that pick 4 was off the table or to that effect. Lethlean rightly put it out there that all assets (including number 4) were on the table as there's no point in ruling anything out publicly at least.

How does a man working for 12 years in the finance industry and the last 8 years as a banker suddenly become list manager of a football club when he has zero experience in this role?

How does a man involved in a scandal lose his cushy job at the AFL and then five minutes later end up as the head of a football department of a football club with zero experience in this role?

Seriously!

I agree that anyone who speaks in absolutes when speculating about the future really is an idiot.

Agreed.

So called supporters bag out Lethlean and Gallagher, but they actually have a ton of footy expierence in all areas. People need to look into their history a bit more I think.

It's called democracy and why you can post anything you want on a Saints fan forum!

I thought our first round pick was sacred?

Well at least if it comes off we get a known quantity instead of wasting our pick on someone with a pre-existing medical condition that prevents them from attaining elite fitness!

Yep, and thank god the democracy of this forum doesn't actually get past the forum into the Saints footy club.

It will be the money ball approach which can work. Also he does have some AFL experience as well.
Analysis data so it becomes useful information is his job so we have him now, lets get behind him.
My opinion will change instantly if we get Shiel at the expense of pick 4 of we pay stupid overs for Hanners
