I agree he is showing more glimpes, but must be so frustrated. Without really trying to recall too much, I can remember 5 occasions he was in a good position over his opponent(s), only to see the ball blazed somewhere else. I am sure he would be doing quite a bit better in a team with more system.

Reckon Paddy would've kicked 4 or 5 today, if he was playing for Geelong.

Needs to be delisted and replaced by another who can mark a 50m bomb with one opponent hanging off him and another going the punch. Lol. Would kick 60 at the Hawks.

I thought Paddy showed a bit.

But WTF would want to be a key forward for the Saints at present when you are always outnumbered 3/2 to 1 and where delivery favours that 2/3?

Paddy for a FF needs to really work on his goalkicking routine. He is all over the shop.

He’s probably one of the few players who is pissed off with the way we are going, and can’t focus on his goal kicking due to his frustration.

He seems a passionate bloke who may show a bit now his nerves are settling down.

WTF does the nickname McClunkin come from??

He tends to double grab all his marks, even when he's 5 metres in the clear.

C'mon. Con shuffles his opinions more than a jukebox playing 1990's CD's. Paddy will be the next Riewoldt in a couple of weeks and then turn into Elmer Fudd a fortnight later.

Too True, Con is a grumpy old man, no doubt about it, or a severely sexually frustrated young woman, not sure which!!!!!

I've never said he will be anything like Riewoldt. Not even close.
At best if he at least was given half a chance and got AFL fit he might be half decent. At best.

Under the current coaches he is a total bust.

You see Con wants him to fail because that'll mean Con was right. Unfortunately, Con will be wrong on this as he was on Billings.

Paddy's game was really good and he acquitted himself well in difficult circumstances. Obviously, he shouldn't have had to play in an outnumbered forward line, double & triple teamed, there should have been support from our smalls, the structure was woeful and the delivery to the forward half diabolical. The positive in all that was that it was a massive learning curve for Paddy and he passed the test. He kept his head up and kept going and presenting. Also, the goal he kicked (couldn't give a crap if it was touched) showed signs of emerging confidence. Took the mark, didn't think about it, wheeled around and went bang from 55, that's what we want to see.

I'm just hoping he avoids injury, he is looming and close to a breakout. They just need to back him and play him out of the square.

I see that the f****** ferals in sleepy hollow stole Paddy's car whilst he was playing and then drove to civilization and trashed his house. Charming arseholes.

He played really well????

His game was an improvement on previous weeks. Unfortunately your assessment is a classic Saints supporters assessment of our young players. Paddy is in his 4th year of AFL footy. He kicked one goal as the key fwd. How is that a really good game? He gets zero separation on his opponent so his opponent is always on his hammer.

Yes the structure was god awful and he wasn't helped by the delivery up the ground when he was free, but unfortunately that's a fwds lot. Roo spent half his career being triple tagged.

I would say that Paddy's game was an encouraging improvement on dismal previous efforts, but not a really good game.

Wait, wait, wait, wait...

Lets not get carried away and start handing out compliments or motivational statements for the kid. If he succeeds on here he succeeds under a blanket of negativity.

He got what, 12 disposals? Not a terrible return considering. Very far from our worst.
His DE% was pretty average. 50-mid 60's from memory. He did cough it up a few times.
He took a few decent contested marks. One of them stood out near the 50m mark out near the boundary. He had no right getting that ball...but did.
He competed when it hit the deck.
Multiple second and third efforts.
Only kicked the one.
Was constantly out numbered all night but competed well.
The disposal heading his way was criminal.

He is on the right track.

I reckon he is gonna have a breakout game soon. Then go back to the mediocre slow burn...then have another good'n.

But lets not get too blue sky on the topic eh...

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

His game against Geelong was comfortably his best so far this season. Worked hard to provide an option and contested pretty well in the air considering he had 2 or 3 opponents every time it was kicked to him. Didn't drop any sitters although he sure needs to start making the most of his shots on goal. Provided a lot more than Hawkins.

He's one of those players that before he came to the club, he was "the man". Then he's had the shock of getting out there amongst so many guys who are bigger and tougher plus missed so much game time last year and has had received such a lot of negative press, it must be hard for him to remember what sort of player he even is when he runs out. My hope is that the more he gets to play uninterrupted, the better he'll remember.

Sorry ,it didn't happen during the match but that night.

"TUESDAY was a bizarre day at St Kilda Football Club.

It began with off-field drama following Paddy McCartin around before the news that Koby Stevens would be out “indefinitely” with delayed concussion.

Having woken up in Geelong alongside his girlfriend Lucy Brownless, McCartin walked outside to see his car had been stolen.

The duo notified the police and hired a car to return to their house in Armadale.

But it went from bad to worse when they arrived home to see their house had been broken into and trashed."

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/st-kil ... 5bc149a44d

It’s understood drawers were left open but nothing substantial was stolen. Neither Brownless or McCartin were hurt and nor did they see the criminals.

McCartin came into the club, trained and was in good spirits despite his rough morning.

The police are investigating both incidents and it is unknown if they are linked.

As for Stevens, his concussion symptoms had lingered ever since Round 1.

The midfielder copped a knock to his head in the second JLT match, and received another one in Round 1 against Brisbane.

The club was unaware of any problems he was having as he went on to collect 19 disposals against North Melbourne on Good Friday."
