He settled presumably under advice from his lawyer.SainterK wrote:Club is going to cop a bit of heat about unfair dismissal and all that, but I'm confident all will be fine.
The drunk and disorderly, turning up in an unfit state to training, breaking the rule that had him required to call football manager if he found himself in trouble again.
BTW, that annoying SEN matt thompson is loving this
I am going to make no judgement on the case itself, just hope all involved have some peace and can move on with their lives as best as can be hoped.
The journo's won't care about that, though.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
What has that got to do with anything?perfectionist wrote:I thought an agreement was reached and he was paid out.SainterK wrote:Club is going to cop a bit of heat about unfair dismissal and all that, but I'm confident all will be fine...
I meant in the media and public arena, Saints will, and already copping it for sacking Lovett.
Club will get some negative attention, rightly or wrongly.

Let's hope so Perfectionist. We don't need any more adverse publicity.
As I said, the Saints legal eagles were all over this, so hopefully, they got it all tidied up, in anticipation of a possible "not guilty" verdict. However, the Law is very, very grey on these matters and "claims" can always be made.

The law Thinline, in relation to the industrial charge of Wrongful Dismissal - nothing to do with the rape verdict. Proving "what was reasonable in the circumstances" and "intent" is not black and white and there will be differing viewpoints on this.
Hopefully, the Saints will have a written Agreement/payout in place on his dismissal, which will block any further court action on this matter.

club was careful to use breaches i contract not related to this court case.perfectionist wrote:I thought an agreement was reached and he was paid out.SainterK wrote:Club is going to cop a bit of heat about unfair dismissal and all that, but I'm confident all will be fine...
i still say mcqualter isnt a good bloke in all of this with his "we dont want u at the club" carry on.
who made him club spokesman?
Yes because he shouldnt have been upset when the incident took place. He should have been clam and rational. I would actually say Mini is a great bloke who like a few others was under exteme pressure at the time.Con Gorozidis wrote:club was careful to use breaches i contract not related to this court case.perfectionist wrote:I thought an agreement was reached and he was paid out.SainterK wrote:Club is going to cop a bit of heat about unfair dismissal and all that, but I'm confident all will be fine...

The club said categorically at the time that the dismissal was unrelated to the criminal investigation, Lovett then agreed to a settlement which would have mentioned this - I can't see anything unclear about this, the two parties have already come to an agreement.
Out of interest, was Lovett allowed to be in last years draft?

He has signed a settlement deed.
He has no recourse unless he wishes to argue that his lawyer forced him to sign the thing or there was some duress involved.
Derek Humphery-Smith ain't gonna stand for no arguments of that nature...

Mini's response was hardly the stuff of controversy. The bloke was oozing trouble before this incident. The allegations on a boozy night would have been more than unsettling for all concerned.
Respectfully, nonsense.

I think the opposite. Female jury's would be more beneficial to Lovett. More likely to be critical of the females behaviour where as males (unless rugby league players) would be defensive of her.Con Gorozidis wrote:quick acquittal. female jury.
they say female juries often dont sympathise with a victim in these cases. and if she was a good looking victim with a history of picking up footy players - then fellow fem's would judge her poorly.

thats what the stats say. so i agree with u yes. females disapprove of that behaviour from other females.
massive error was day-one she played the "im innocent , i dont drink or swear" card. juries dont like that. once u play that card they think u are a liar.
i reckon he did it - but defence was able to paint her behaviour bad enough that the jury did not sympathise with her position.
so i think we agree.
