Surely competition won't be that tight in our senior backline? Sounds like 2018's off to a flyer already!Con Gorozidis wrote:At Sandy?degruch wrote:Yep, I mentioned him earlier, he'd be a bloody good pickup. It has been reported that St Kilda Football Club is interested as cover for injury prone defender Nathan Brown.
Thoughts?"
Just saw this on FB

Good news. Hes a gun.
Local Frankston boy so i believe this one.
He is contracted so I assume we will need to give up pick 8 for him. Probably not a bad deal.
Use pick 7 on the best midfielder available.
I assume that means Nate Brown is gone.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Very, very good player, but hopefully not costing pick 7 or 8.
He's 25 and a third tall or running back not a gun midfielder.
More like a Gilbo type with better foot skills.
Problem is what else do we have, no second rounder.
Maybe 8 and get 25 back?

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
So we're adding another Half back flanker?
If we give up 7 or 8 for him I'll spew.

I wish! Really rate him, Reminds me a lot of a young Gilbo but with much needed skill and composure. Yes please, make it happen.jaxons wrote:Ok will tell you now Nick Haynes likely to be with us next year.

Hes more than a flanker. He can play on talls.The_President wrote:So we're adding another Half back flanker?

Mind you - we do seem obsessed with recruiting defenders.
Delaney, Roberton, Nate Brown, Carlisle.... and now this bloke.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Jaxons what's the % of this happening? What type of deal do you reckon?
Will Armo and Hickey be at the club next season? I hope so.
Any chance of Rockliff??

So 8 for Haynes + 23.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Could we trade 8 (+43) down for two first rounders from Brisbane (12+18) or Tigers(15+16/17)?Con Gorozidis wrote:Pick 23 back to us seems fair.saintsRrising wrote:Not sure he is worth 7 or 8 by themselves.....so mmmm part of a package player deal? Or is a pick in the teens too low for Hayes? (assuming a club would do such a deal! May depend on what Brisbane think will happen with their acadamy kids ?)
I guess we will need to use 8 and try to get back 23.... which we can hopefully use wisely!
If we use 7 well to draft a good kid then it will be a good off season

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Good player but is he what we really need? Should we be giving up a 1st round pick for a 3rd tall when we have Roberton, Gilbert & White who can play similiar roles.jaxons wrote:Ok will tell you now Nick Haynes likely to be with us next year.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Good suggestion. I like where you are going with that... I guess the question then comes - what is better picks 23 + 43 or pick 17?SuperDuper wrote:Could we trade 8 (+43) down for two first rounders from Brisbane (12+18) or Tigers(15+16/17)?Con Gorozidis wrote:Pick 23 back to us seems fair.saintsRrising wrote:Not sure he is worth 7 or 8 by themselves.....so mmmm part of a package player deal? I supposes it depends on how many rookies we want to promote and how many list spots are available.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I thought this initially too, but look at most defensive units these days there are usually two attacking third defenders.. look at Adelaide... Kelly and Lever... I don't think having two play and three on the list is a bad ideaImpatient Sainter wrote:Good player but is he what we really need? Interesting when you consider w have Carlisle, Brown, Roberton and Goddard* on the list and teams like Tiges are playing a mosquito fleet fwd line.
