Re: Match Thread Saints v Eagles @ Subi
After Kennedy kicked 3 on Gilbert in the first 10-15mins Dempster went to him and he kicked 2 more in the quarter which was his total for the game. Of the two one was from a 20m kick from Savage straight to him 30m from goal. Overall Dempster did a great job in nullifying Kennedy's influence. To the top wrote:Interesting that at the 20 minute mark of the last quarter WCE have had 5 - yes, just 5 - more disposals than the Saints.
And Free Kicks are 23-12 in their favor.
So is there a story there somewhere?
Not knowing anything of the game apart from the AFL site Stats, who has been on who particularly in regards our tall defenders?
So who started on Kennedy, and was there any change after the first quarter?
I note Roberton has had a bit of it, but Gilbert has had very little so would assume Gilbert has had the deep defensive responsibility.

Watched Dunstan, Membrey and Gresham after half time for their responses
Disappointed in Membrey, Dunstan Ok, and quite a good response from Gresham, although quite a few turnovers, he is getting more confident

They really are flat track bullies - when they have the size and weight advantage, playing at home in front of their gormless fans, getting all the free kicks they just love it and all stream forward showing off their tans. But at the G in the grand final on a hot day they wilted like spinach.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Eagles @ Subi
Thought we battled ok after quarter time and held our own in some patches but we couldn't buy a goal and 70+ clangers with a huge free kick differential didn't help - that all said 100 pt losses are inexcusable!!!!
As stated earlier like last month we play two good games and then one bad one - mental problem??
Our next three games have us playing Essendon (h), Freo (h) and Adelaide (a) - will a pattern develop - beat Essendon well, lose a close one to Freo and get thumped by Adelaide??
I know we are young however Carlton have managed to put 4 good games together - ok their opposition havent amounted to much but its still 4 games where they have held their concentration - on the other hand we are struggling to do this
We have to nip this in the bud and turn this mental fragility around really fkn quickly

Well hey, waddaya know!?! Seems we have made no improvement. I think Richo needs to produce the big stick this time...minimal changes and sending the boys back out to get it right has worked, but if we have anyone knocking the door down in the VFL now is their time. So...degruch wrote:Mark of improvement will be to see how we respond...last year's team would have rolled out to 100 point loss. Fingers crossed the boys have more fight now.spert wrote:Well- we are 2 wins, and supposed to be a team on the rise, yet the Blues are rubbish and have 4 wins. So far we have not progressed since last season apart from looking competitive in a few losses. The first quarter today is as bad as any team could play in one quarter of football.
...do we have anyone knocking the door down at Sandy?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

If it has, we may have to strap ourselves in for a few more 100 point thrashings this season.magnifisaint wrote:The door has been taken off the hingesdegruch wrote:Well hey, waddaya know!?! And I see that the officiating umpires of the game last Sunday have received a rap over the knuckles about at least one incorrect decision in that match which went against St. Kilda and which definitely would have resulted in a goal to us.
