Bris and GCS always surprise a couple of teams in July / August - normally Melbourne ones - when they go up to SE Qld to play. The main reason being (a) it's muggy hot and the Melb teams just run out of juice (b) it gets seriously dewy and slippery at night and the Qld teams who train in that and are better at handling it. If the Qld teams play a bottom 6 team up there in July / August - get on 'em (if you're inclined to have a punt).fugazi wrote: ↑Mon 25 Jun 2018 2:20pmAgree we need elite , but not worth tanking to get him.Teflon wrote: ↑Mon 25 Jun 2018 1:27pmWalsh best in draft what we needparkeysainter wrote: ↑Mon 25 Jun 2018 9:09am There are still plenty of good mids to pick up. Likely to get pick 4 as the OP said. Bulldogs are better than us so will probably beat us. Gold Coast will rally for one more win and so will Lions.
We could possibly get pick 3.
If we end up with pick 2 ...do we take Lukosius if hes there?
We are getting pick 4 or 5

Re: We are getting pick 4 or 5
Sometimes teams bob up in the last few games of a season and surprise you. We'll beat Carlton though, and we'll beat the Doggies too. Reckon we could beat GWS too, depending on what happens tomorrow night at the tribunal with Cameron. If he doesn't play against us I reckon we'll get 'em. On exposed form you'd say that we probably wouldn't win more than those, but form is a fickle mistress and we might improve after the bye. Melbourne are gettable this week.suss wrote: ↑Sun 24 Jun 2018 10:06pm I can’t see Carlton winning any more games - ditto for Gold Coast - but Brisbane are playing some okay football and they may jag some more wins.
I also can’t see us beating anyone other than Carlton and I reckon we’ll end up with pick 3. Dogs, North, and the Dopers all look way better than us.
Brisbane aren't that bad and they could win a few up there. If we don't perform they could, and probably should, overtake us on the ladder. They have got a side with as much talent as Melbourne but have had rotten luck, and the tide will turn for them at some point.
Wouldn't write off Gold Coast as far as more wins for the season is concerned either; they've had a shocking fixture with no home games before round 11, and now that they're playing some matches at home will win a few games.
Think we'll finish bottom three - and Lynch to stay at Gold Coast.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Mad Ddog only if theres not a good burst of consecutive game form. Currently we have 2-4 year players not beating a 1 in a row quality game performance. Thats the issue.parkeysainter wrote: ↑Sun 24 Jun 2018 9:33pmNot with every poster MadDog.BringBackMadDog wrote: ↑Sun 24 Jun 2018 9:15pm regardless of who we get, if he doesn't cure cancer, walk across water or at the very least win the rising star, brownlow and our B & F in his first year will be considered a spud on this site
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Rankine is a must take.
A freak and exactly what we need.
Will be there for us too.
Think Nicky Winmar at his most exciting combined with Chris Judd explosive speed and a Robert Harvey sidestep.
The most exciting player to be in a draft since Buddy Franklin.

a first nations boy
and then there's something about Japanese heritage

mum ?
He is Adelaide-born but a member of the Ngarrindjeri community and Ronald Sr hails from the tiny southeast town of Raukkan.
Rankine, 17, has been to Raukkan quite a few times to see aunties, uncles and learn about more about his lineage.

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/06/25/ ... ock-draft/
Based on these and other articles the top 10 is starting to take shape. My opinion is that most have Jack Lukosius at one. The 2 king brothers will feature in the top 5 if a club wants to take the risk on Max's knee. Sam Walsh, Thomas, Blakey and Rankine rounding out the top 5. Thomas & Blakey are academy players or linked to other clubs so we can’t get them so they are excluded
Assuming no compo pick in the top 5 for any club, this is who I think we will get depending on our pick.
1. Jack Lukosius. Moot point as we will not come last, Carlton really suck. Honestly crazy not to on his current form. Trade away Bruce or even Paddy to make way for him and give him the #12. He looks good
2. Sam Walsh. best mid who can play on the outside. Get him please.
3. we really need an outside mid but if Walsh is gone we have an issue. The next outside mid is outside the top 10 players at present and we don’t want another inside mid or hbf who might become an outside player (Smith) so we will settle for a King or Rankine. There are arguments for any of these as both Max and Ben can play forward but Ben is more of a defender who can swing forward and Rankine is an exciting small forward but Max seems to be better. If our medical staff say Max's knee is good to go we will pick him because his stats are great.
4. Max King or Rankine. Whoever is left
5 Onwards. Now this is where things get bad. IF the top 4 are gone then the next best player is Ben King but he is a defender who can swing forward but if we pick another f#%king defender I will go to Ashley and Martin, regrow my hair and then pull it out. Bailey Smith is a good inside mid, inside being the key word as is Hatley. We don’t need any more inside mids. The next outside mid is Rozee who has potential but not a top 10 on anyone’s list and that is a huge gamble in a super-draft to use pick 5 on him. I would not be surprised if our recruitment team look to trade our pick 5 for 2 picks later in round one or say pick 10ish and a second round pick.
Thoughts?
