St Kilda president Peter Summers said the Saints' board had "no hesitation" in giving the tick of approval for Alan Richardson to be re-signed until the end of 2020.
Richardson is poised to become St Kilda's second longest-serving coach, with the Saints confirming Richardson's new deal at their best and fairest count on Friday night.

Damn it. Calm down. Let's let Richo run us into the ground and get at least that #1 pick
C'mon WE CAN SO THIS! WE HAVE SKILLS TO GET THE WOOD!
Time to cue another "i'm torn" thread. Was definitely one of my favorites!

Oh sweet Jesus
I was pissed off when I thought it was until the end of next season
I'm not saying I am excusing Richo but no coach could win with:
- Savage
- Newnes
- Weller
- Steele
- Lonie
- Sinclair
- McCartin
- Hickey
- Billings (not playing tonight)
These players must be traded (no one would want them) or delisted
The true rot to this club is list management and recruiting - Ameet Baines and Tony Elshaug have brought this club to its knees
Also Jack Steven should be a running wingman - not an inside mid
In fact we don't actually have any really good mids - Petracca and Bontempelli were passed up for Billings and McCartin... duds

Recruiting has been abismal I agree. McCartin over Bontempelli etc ? Come on.
But Richo has to go. He is a cancer on this club.
Unfortunately, Bontempelli was taken by the time we took McCartin
It was boys against men last night and I think Sydney will play in the GF so two clubs at opposite ends of the development cycle. Doesn't explain why we weren't able to man up and go one-on-one. Is that game strategy even utilised these days?, the one previously deployed when there was a run against you and all 18 players were required to be accountable for a player and at the very least stop the run before there is a score blowout?. It seemed like that was what was needed in the first quarter when most of our players seemed to be wandering the field without any intent to chase or body a player. A statement needed to be made, a full frontal, some sort of physical assertion, however that's where my frustration grew last night at the realisation we don't have any of those types in our team. Stevie Baker anyone?
We missed some bigger bodies and experience - Acres, Carlisle, Roberton, Bruce have left a bit of a hole.
Long was starting to play some good football - we miss him too.
I think Connellan and Paton should come in next game to apply some much-needed forward pressure - the ball came out of our F50 too easily and cleanly last night.
Is Orbison one of our selectors .. "only the Lonie/Weller Weller bing bang"?

Too harsh. Some of those named can play at AFL level.

let's not use injuries as an excuse - we were playing just as poorly with a full team.
it's the coach and those around him. we need a cleanout. we can wait til seasons end and ensure a high draft pick - but need a coach to come in with a say over the trade period so it's a bit tricky. we stuffed up this years draft completely under the illusion we were ready to challange. need to trade our way back in.
we need to entice an experienced coach in - someone the players will respect and believe in, the last thing we want is to put in the players mind that this is a complete reset. it is just building on an incomplete development cycle.
