But what if GWS win this years Premiership, why would he stay then?Jacks Back wrote:Kelly will sign a 2 or 3 year contract so he can finish the business of winning a premiership and then sell out to the highest bidder.
I'm not sure about Martin. I've got a feeling he will stay at the tigers.

That's a very good question, many 'experts' on here written off GWS?????Linton Lodger wrote:But what if GWS win this years Premiership, why would he stay then?Jacks Back wrote:Kelly will sign a 2 or 3 year contract so he can finish the business of winning a premiership and then sell out to the highest bidder.

Re: Saints Back in for Dusty
Really? In last weeks side we had Steele, Roberton, Longer, Bruce, Savage, Weller, Brown and Membrey. All except for Weller have been good contributors for us this year. Membrey, Steele Bruce and Roberton are better than average players with potential A grade ability and none of them cost us anything more than pick 25 in the draft.Junction Oval wrote:These types of selections are what our Recruiters get paid for. Let's hope that they are good enough to get a top-notch name in, but I am not confident. Apart from Carlisle, their overall track record is not great.
I would suggest that our recent trading has been very, very good

Stop arguing just get them all.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Roberton was lucky because he is a local kid and every club in AFL benefits from a Roberton style 'come home' deal.
But overall you are right - Steele, Bruce, Sav, Brown and Membrey have been good trades for us. All bargains really.
Technically we paid pick 21 for Longer. So that is probably fair value.

In recent times the Saints tend to be better traders than draft pickersCon Gorozidis wrote:Fair call.BringBackMadDog wrote:Really? Re: Saints Back in for Dusty
There is no way I'd pay the money being bandied about for Martin
Great player but can be shut down as a mid (we did it) and not worth 1.5m a year as North supposedly offered. List suicide.
Kelly or Martin our class problems run deeper than a 1 player solution ...... I'm starting to think a couple of Whitfield quality types is a smarter play.....

Re: Saints Back in for Dusty
I doubt he'd want to go to a club like Norf. A club on the downward slope that will struggle for a few more years at least. They have possibly the worst list in the competition. One player won't fix it. At Norf, He'll be a star in a bottom four team for the next 4-5 years, by which time his career will be in its twighlight. If Richmond comes anywhere near close to that offer, then he'll stay. At least he'll be in a competitive team. I'd love him at the saints, but not at 1.5 million a year.
I think you're pretty tough, don't I?

Re: Saints Back in for Dusty
Interesting point, relating to how easily Richo shut him down and how good he actually is. It will be interesting to see how Martin goes in Finals. Can he take a deep final by the scruff of the neck, as say Lenny Hayes could? Only then would he be worth that sort of currency.Teflon wrote:There is no way I'd pay the money being bandied about for Martin

The evidence for your last statement is a little ambiguous.MickThomas wrote:Waldron says we want Dusty.
Brad Hardie said a few weeks back, that Lyon's reps rang the Filth.
Barrett said Dempster was unhappy at the Saints with not being picked.
Are these media types just like the old guy in the pub who looks at everyone through one bleary eye?
